The best thing about this hotel is its location right across the street from the beach. The pool area is also very nice. Other than that, the hotel is dated. In my room the shower curtain rod was rusted as was the area around the drain in the bathtub. There was only one plug in the bedroom and it didn't... More

Orson Welles photos in the restaurant tell the story. Grand old hotel now poorly maintained. Old stained carpets, dark halls, damp, doors don't even close in the room. wifi only in lobby though it is good in that area. breakfast is poor, scrambled eggs were good, but the breads were stale. Service at our group dinner slow, the lamb ball... More

Have stayed in Riads before in Morocco & fancied something different this time. The hotel is ideally situated just a two minute walk away from the walled medina & right across the road from the beach. Taxi rank also just by the gate to the medina. This must've been a top class hotel in its day & still retains an... More

The hotel is pretty big, yet seemed to be quite empty which may explain why I got such a good discount walking in off the street to book.Room is fresh and comfortable with a great view over the beach. A little bit of traffic noise but with the sliding window closed, this helped a lot. Breakfast is reasonable. A grand... More

This is a beautiful older-style hotel in Essaouira, featuring traditional Moroccan design in the public areas and in the rooms. The hotel is a block from one entrance to the medina and my room had a view of the Atlantic. Staff was helpful and congenial. Breakfast was great, and the omelettes were wonderful. There was a bar in the hotel... More

I paid about $50 for a single room - and at that price it was an excellent value. Pros: Great pool; nice enough rooms (could use a refresh but clean and good sized, with huge bathtubs); location (steps to kasbah as well as the bus station); the bar has a lot of charm to it, though not many patrons. Cons:... More

Chose Hôtel des îles for being walkable distance to medina and beach, very well located. Parking on site. However: - no Internet in the rooms, only in lobby - no hot water in the room (reception said they were fixing something) - no towels provided in the room. We had to call reception to have towels delivered. - room was... More

Des Isles is a classy older hotel in Essaouira, the wind-surfing capital of Morocco. The hotel has spacious rooms, a huge garden patio with swimming pool, and a good buffet breakfast. The staff is helpful, speaking English and French. Essaouira is a charming town with old Portuguese and French fortifications in good condition. There is a harbor full of working... More

Spent week after Christmas here - hotel is closest (5min) outside old town to walls and fishing harbour with its dozen or so fishermen's restaurants with their daily catches on display for your selection and cooking - exceptional - drool with the memory. Hotel itself is sort of 30s Moorish, clean, tiled floors, large pool garden area surrounded by chalets... More
