We traveled to Essaouria from Marrakech via hired car. This Riad is in the walled Medina, which is a walking area only. We entered the Medina from the main parking lot, which is opposite from the water. Take the third right, then the first right, then the second right. Sounds daunting, but a porter quickly loaded our luggage onto a... More

Our stay at Dar Liouba has been excellent. The owners are such nice people and they do their best to fulfill al your wishes. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with tea and information about the city. Our room was spacious, very clean, light and had a nice bed. The lobby is also decorated beautifully and feels very "homesy". Breakfast can... More

Location: Perfectly centred in the medina, it's a good compromise between being close to the beach (5 minute walk if you take the right route) and the 2 main streets in Essaouira. The Riad is situated perfectly so that it feels cut off from the noise and hub bub of the medina, yet not enough so that you feel isolated.... More

Dar Liouba is conveniently located near the center of the Medina. It is a wonderful cozy place to escape to pace of the medina. The owners work incredibly hard to ensure your comfort and enjoyment. The rooms are beautifully appointed. The lobby is cozy. And, the food is amazing thanks to Chef Youssef and the kitchen staff.

Upon arrival, we were presented with maps and brochures with information about the city, and suggestions as to what to do and what to see, including how to get to the various places. The staff was very helpful, chatty and eager to make our stay there as good as possible. This made me feel very at home in the riad.... More

We stayed on top floor in a 3 people room. Peaceful and clean, very cosy and close to the terrace for having breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was also really good, bread, jam, good coffee. About the riad, has a lot of light inside and the location is totally convenient, its only a few steps away from the harbour,... More

We really enjoyed our stay at dar Liouba, Patricia was a kind and professional hostess. The breakfast was very nice and our room (lavande) was lovely with dual aspect windows. You felt like you were staying more in a private home and were well looked after with a night porter and funny, engaging cook and good kitchen team. I would... More

The cleanliness in Dar Liouba is second to none, room thoroughly cleaned every day. Comfy bed & tea/coffee facility in the room. Location is spot-on, easy stroll to the beach & shopping! The most relaxing stay I had during 4 weeks of travel in Morocco during April 2014 was at Dar Liouba in Essaouira. A special thanks to host Patricia who looks after all her guests so well - including with delicious breakfasts! The rooms are fresh, bright, and extremely comfortable. Very central in the medina, and yet set back from the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Dar Liouba is much more than a charming guesthouse, it is a place where you will feel at home. A house where conviviality, enchantment and an atmosphere of relaxation reign. The general atmosphere is laid back and cheerful, with a bright architecture.A pergola rises three floors from the interior courtyard of this former Imam’s house, culminating in an octagonal skylight. This intriguing structure provides each bedroom with a charming cedarwood balcony, hand carved by local craftsmen, overflowing with flowers, from which you look down into a small internal garden that is a specific feature of these town houses. ... more   less
