At check in I was shocked to learn that dinner on the nite of arrival is required. It wsas of adequate quality but better food is available nearby. The rooms are lacking in telephones, TV,reading lites and the WiFi does not reach maost of the rooms. The charming pictures on the web site are NOT a fair representation of the... more

Arguably the best located guest house in the medina. We were warmly greeted by staff (our 6-month old likely contributed to some of that) and shown to our well appointed rooms. Some reviews had complained of the cramped and maze-like stairwells - while this is true (the hotel is made of of 4 adjoining homes (riads), I would point out... more

Wonderful hotel - right down to the hotwater bottles on the bed at night as it was a cold time. Lovely lovely big suite. Feeling of non-intrusive eco-friendliness but not at the exense of beauty and luxury. What a marvellous time. more

We stayed at the Hotel in March 2009 for 1 week. We were in Essaouira and at the Hotel 10 years ago and we came back as we wanted to see the place again and experience the new Mogador Golf Course under construction. I have been travelling around the world for Business for more than 10 years and I spend... more

I am very confused by reports abot this hotel, this report follows some very positive ones, I can only imagine that the writers were lucky or have pretty low expectations. This hotel has had a reputation as the place to stay in Essaouria. Not any more! Essaouria is wonderful, everything the guides say and more. There are many riads and... more

We have recently returned from our 11th visit to the Villa Maroc. What was already a magical riad has become newly renovated with stepped up service as well as a cuisine that continues to be the best in town. The owners and staff alike call all guests by name and see to their personal needs including those outside of the... more

A very special hotel, akin to a riad, in an excellent location close to the harbour. Beautifully furnished, a fascinating warren of rooms and seating alcoves, firendly staff and excellent food. I was concerned about the possibility of noise at night as many rooms encircle the open central courtyard but, apart from loud music from the hotel next door which... more

Always difficult to book on the net especially when the reviews are not the best, but I had a feeling that this place was just what we wanted! Bull's eyes! Such a charming and romantic place with the warm atmosphere you are looking for ;) All rooms are different (ask for the one with fireplace or on the roof top),... more

We booked 6 nights here after seeing the web site. When we arrived we immediately asked to change rooms, (which we were told, was not possible). We later heard other couples ask to be moved. Our suite (22) comprised of 3 rooms- a pig ugly sitting room, a cramped, charmelss bedroom and a disgusting, mouldy bathroom! Having just come from... more

Our first time at the Villa Maroc in May. We had a very comfortable stay at what I would describe as a quirky and unusual hotel. I understand that all the rooms are different, but each has I think a small sitting room area, bedroom and bathroom. The public areas are beautifully decorated with some stunning art and antiques. The... more
