I should actually be raving about them because when we checked-in they upgraded us to the junior suite for free which was fabulous because the room was actually really big and nice. What turned me off though is that the staff are not really friendly specially the people at the breakfast area. One day we had a buffet breakfast and... More

Well, what a disappointment – we were duped by the internet and had to live with our poor choice as we paid in advance. The location is good but then the whole town is small and easy to manage , when we got out of our transport a strange man took off with our bags and we had to run... More

This is a late review but better late than never! I arrived in Marrakech amid the teeming rain in November 2014. It was starting to clear up as I got the (local!) bus from Marrakesh to Essaouira. I felt such a delight at being out of that aggressive city (totally unlike my experience of 30 years previous). When I got... More

The Riad was easy to find as we had been to Essaouira before but could be a bit daunting if arriving by bus to be met by lots of porters all eager for business, unless you had arranged with the Riad to actually meet you. It was a ten minute walk through the medina to the Riad which is close... More

This riad is in the medina, a short walk down a quiet lane from the main square where there are lots of restaurant options. It's a well-maintained typical riad; spacious and well decorated, and service was friendly and helpful. The layout of our room on the first level was a little strange. Entry was into a large lounge area with... More

Essaouira is typically a place visited from Marrakech on a long day-visit by coach or hire car (2.5 hours each way along a good but uninteresting road) so the town, which has the general feel of a down-at-heel Greek seaside town, is not well served by hotels. That said the Palais des Remparts (previously the Johnson, renovated with care in... More

We took the two suites which were very good. The rooftop one had great sea views. The hotel is in the ramparts of the old medina and overlooking the ocean so great location. Eating on the roof is very windy but Essaouira is a windy place. The staff were all so helpful and charming and couldn't do enough to help.... More

Just back from a memorable weekend with friends at the Palais des Ramparts in Essaouria, which certainly has the 'wow' factor. Before our arrival a member of staff contacted me by email to see if they could be of any help, and in fact arranged for a private car to meet us at our hotel in Agadir, some three hours... More

We stayed for two nights as a break from marrakech. After the crazy hectic world of Marrakech, essouira was a relaxing retreat. We arrived on the supratours bus and the map inside the station and the screenshot on my phone got us to the hotel pretty easily it's located on a quiet street with a little shop across selling water...
