We visited this Riad end of October and unfortunately only stayed there for 1 night. It took us a while to find a Riad or hotel with acceptable reviews. This Riad fully lived up to our hopes and wishes. Happy we booked this Riad.

I stayed at Ryad Lyon-Mogador with my parents and my partner. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. They were available to give restaurant recommendations. The roof terrace is a highlight as the roof is higher than the surrounding roofs, which gives a great ocean view. The breakfast was well done and day two's breakfast differed from day one. The... What a fun and comfortable place. In a great location because it is in the medieval medina yet right beside the wild Atlantic ocean crashing against rocks just over the medina fortifications. Each floor is interesting and the rooms are themed and some decorated with interesting French/Maroc paraphernalia. The rooms are cosy and during the windy times the ocean can... More

We stayed at this Ryad for 9 wonderful days and was not disappointed! Our family room was spacious and clean on the third floor. The breakfasts were delicious and varied it was wonderful sitting on the roof terrace with stunning views over Essaouira and the sea. The french owners were lovely and welcoming. We will definitely be staying here again.... More

This was our first stop in Morocco. First, Essaouira was one of my favorite cities we visited. I like it better than both Marrakech and Fes. The hotel is located in the heart of the medina. If you arrive by car, you'll need to park outside the medina and hire a porter to take you and your luggage to the... More

Stayed here in single room & had great stay. Low key but professional service, good breakfast, lovely roof terrace. If you can, check out the rooms before booking. Mine was very nice with window and enough room for one person, but some of the others looked a bit dark/small. Tucked away off the main street which was a plus. Recommended.

Solo traveller, stayed one night. The Riad is located down a long dark tunnel, and I didn't feel safe to walk back after dark, so sat in my tiny, dank, mouldy smelling room that night eating a baguette. (Apparently there were meals available but only if you had ordered them the day before!) The shower sprayed directly out of the... More

Although the riad is not easy to find as newbie to Essaouira, once at the riad the experience is great. The riad even sent one of its staff out to meet is at the Medina door. The rooms are nice, cosy and clean. The staff, which has limited english, really tries to help and understand. The riad has a lot... More

We stayed one night at Ryad Lyon-Mogador in April 2013. First off, the owners are very friendly and allowed our kids to watch dvd's on the downstairs tv, the wi fi reception is great (one point on every floor) and the breakfast served on the roof tops was the best breakfast we had in Morocco by a long way. We... More

Run by a french couple, they look after you excellently. Also their staff are extremely welcoming and smiley. The breakfasts were varied and reliable. The room suited our needs. The riad was superbly located in the medina. The terrace is superbly high, and you get the best views in town. "Essay ira/Essaouria", certainly applies. The beach is a must. I... More
