O.K., this may not be the finest hotel around and could do with a room make-over, but you are effectively in Borneo and and the humidity must play hell with the decor. The staff are great and try very hard to please. The location is good too. I'd go there again

I have been there twice for some days and enjoyed the stay. Very friendly stuff. Most of the relevant parts of the city are in walking distance. Good breakfast. For dinner we visited the restaurants downtown, so we can not say anything about the quality in these aspects. The bar is not really cheap.

We chose the Merdeka Palace Hotel after reading good reviews in tripadvisor. The room was small and the bathroom shower had black mould everywhere, the back of the bathroom door was covered in blackmould. We took standard room. It was pretty small if I may say. But the service was good. The hotel was pretty quiet at night. Even though it was a little bit far from Kuching City center, but it was really near to Plaza Merdeka.

Had an event the few years back. Must say the banquet staff was very helpful and responsive. Most of them have a smile in their face. Certain part of the lobby is rather gloomy but acceptable. There's a fitness center with good massage and they do outcall to the room.
