staying in the Nook is the whole package. Roomy common areas, great kitchen (where people actually cook together) and quiet sleeping rooms. Franky (the host) is incredibly helpful and she often arranges tours or might even cook for you. In my experience it was the perfect place for an independent traveller.

We just had an awesome stay at the Nook with the crazy, goodhearted, excellent hostess Frankie. From the moment we got there she was very helpful, suggesting places to eat and visit. She even invited us along to a trek with a local trekking group which was great fun. Frankie took care of us for the whole week and we... More

A place where you can feel like home and meet other travellers! Me and my partner went to Kuching for the Rainforest World Music Festival and ended up staying a couple of extra days because we enjoyed our stay so much! The owner Franky is awesome! Superfriendly and helpful. She arranged transfers for us with a taxi from the airport... More

Our family spent a week in Franky's care, in which time she devised the most magnificent, the most magical mystery tour we could imagine. The Nook is a safe, comfortable and very affordable home in the heart of Kuching, but it is Franky's magnificent heart and her intimate knowledge of the nature, culture and people of Sarawak that, if you... Upon our arrival we were met by the owner who seemed nice enough and were shown to our rooms and were told she would bring blankets etc later when she'd washed them. She never brought them. Our room was small with two twin bunk beds, the sheets were dirty and there was rubbish on the floor. There was no privacy... More

I spent four nights at Nook. The guesthouse is in a good location, with restaurants and the river a few minutes walk away. The best part of 'Nook' was the manager, Frankie. I found her so welcoming and helpful. Thank you Frankie for a fantastic, memorable trip:O)) I saw some other reviews here said they did not have keys to... More

The location was ok. The standard room we stayed in was clean but very very small. Basically a mattress on the floor with walls around it and since the walls didn't go all the way to the ceiling and no windows it's more like a box than a room. There's a lock on the door to the room but we... More
