The Fairview Guesthouse is an older house that combines family use with providing accommodation. We stayed in a simple room in a separate building away from the house. It contained three single beds, some shelves and two coffee tables. There was an air conditioner and a separate bathroom. There is also an undercover living area outside the front with chairs,... To be honest Fairview has seen better days but then Kuching seems to have that feeling all over, except for the fancy hotel and the massive City Council Megalith's. We stayed in one of he outside rooms, each which has its own small porch. The rooms are clean and with aircon and a nice large bathroom was all we needed... More

I wanted somewhere close to the hospital to visit a sick relative and the waterfront where the hub of activities appear to be. As I am usually out from morning till night for photography, I was looking for some place reasonably cheap for a bed, shower and air conditioning for the night, as I knew it would be hot and... Staying at the guesthouse is OKish. Most things are provided - basic breakfast, cold beer and WiFi. However there is so much potential to improve this. The overall feeling is that the property (house, external rooms and garden) is neglected and run down. It needs a new broom through it and some rejuvenation to make it more vibrant, appealing and... We stayed in one the garden cabins and really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. Not one of these common hotels which are all alike but a charming guesthouse with a true identity. Great value, kind and helpfull staff. Annie who runs the place organizes also tours directly from the house and is helpfull to organize your transfers. The location... More

I stayed in one of the upstairs rooms, which was big, with a nice big bathroom. The house is very nice as well, with a beautiful garden, about 10 minutes from the Waterfront area. I did not mind, but it might be useful for others: the house is very close to a busy main road, so some might find it... More

We stayed at the Fiarview Guesthouse in July 2013 and found it to be a great base to explore and enjoy Kuching. We had one of the garden cabins which, though basic, was large and airy with a good bathroom, and very private. With insect repellent, the outside balcony was a great place to relax in the warm evening air... More

We made an easy reservation by email and Annie was at the airport to pick us up. The house is just outside the city centre, but within a 10 min walk of restaurants, Waterfront, etc. In the morning they serve breakfast. Not the regular toast and butter, but also fried eggs an fruits! Ensuite rooms are spacious (with even a... More

Annie was a lovely host. Ansen picked us up from airport after midnight and was very efficient. We stayed in the downstairs bedroom with ensuite, fan and A/C. For the price it was a good room, very large and had a lockable wardrobe. After a visit to Bako National Park we stayed there for another night in the smaller guest... More

I was a bit disappointed by Fair view guest house. The welcome is indeed friendly but the place can be noisy as the house is near to a main circulation road (it is still a walking distance from the main points of interest in Kuching). You have to add the price of the breakfast and the price of internet connexion,... More

Thanks for your feedback. We appreciate it. "Getting a bit old" - Yes, this is a very old heritage house. "can be noisy" - I agree, at times, if you are extremely sensitive. "have to add the price of breakfast" - it depends on your perspective. Not everyone wants to pay for a room with breakfast included. We want to... More
