This is a nice, cheerful budget guesthouse. Annie was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. My room was basic but adequate for the price and the garden separating the house from the road is nice. There was wifi but it was pretty slow. Very close to the Sarawak museum (worth a visit) and within walking distance of the town centre.

I have to say, when I read Loki647's review of the guesthouse, I was surprised as it didn't echo our experience at all. The guesthouse is a beautiful, large house built about 80 years ago. It is close to the Sarawak museum, the bus station and the Merdaka shopping centre and only about 10 minutes' walk from the waterfront. It... More

I spent an unenjoyable week at the Fairview. Overall, I felt rather exploited (everything is overpriced) and uncomfortable. My room in the main house (there are also garden rooms with no internet connection) was gloomy, worn-down and quite dirty. No cleaning service was provided. The kitchen was deplorably unclean, full of bugs and garbage and unpleasant to use. I was... More

Annie and Eric were so accommodating! They helped us with every need we had, from where to eat to mailing a package. The guest house is within walking distance to the riverfront. The room was basic but large......tranquil setting, air conditioning, and hot water for a great price. We highly recommend Fairview.

The property could be beautiful, is in a good location (a 10-20 minute walk from many central attractions and basics like grocery stores), but is neglected and can get very unclean at times. Most items in the communal kitchen are badly damaged and do not work, and the cooking area is usually quite unclean and covered with discarded food, fruit... More

I stayed in the garden bungalow without a comfortable chair to sit out when the sun did shine. In 7 damp days there was no linen service nor a broom supplied and toilet paper not replenished. Like the rest of Kuching, maintenance is minimal but the local people are very friendly. The bungalow is accessed via a wet moss covered... More

My family of four stayed in the family room at the Fairview Guesthouse. Annie (and her husband Eric) were exceptionally good hosts. Annie organised some great trips for us, including one to a longhouse, which was one of the highlights of our trip. The guesthouse is about a 10 minute walk to the city centre. There are closer places to... More

The Fairview Guesthouse is an older house that combines family use with providing accommodation. We stayed in a simple room in a separate building away from the house. It contained three single beds, some shelves and two coffee tables. There was an air conditioner and a separate bathroom. There is also an undercover living area outside the front with chairs,... To be honest Fairview has seen better days but then Kuching seems to have that feeling all over, except for the fancy hotel and the massive City Council Megalith's. We stayed in one of he outside rooms, each which has its own small porch. The rooms are clean and with aircon and a nice large bathroom was all we needed... More

I wanted somewhere close to the hospital to visit a sick relative and the waterfront where the hub of activities appear to be. As I am usually out from morning till night for photography, I was looking for some place reasonably cheap for a bed, shower and air conditioning for the night, as I knew it would be hot and...
