We just spent 4 nights in the Wallace Cottage and loved every minute of it. We were tired after traveling through Sarawak and Sabah for 5 weeks and needed a place to relax before heading home, and Polycarp's lovely place was perfect. The Wallace Cottage is old but very clean, beds are comfortable with luxurious sheets and there is a... More

We stayed here for two nights. The owner was not there, but Catherine was a lovely host and she catered to the needs of the guests. The main house appears to be in good condition with several rooms on two floors. The grounds are cluttered and in need of maintenance as there are old lounge chairs around the pool and the... More

...we found at Nanga Damai. Our host Catherine was warm and helpful at all times, giving us much more useful information and pleasant conversation than you would ever get from a professional concierge. We stayed in the very comfortable James Brooke room with a lovely view of the most magnificent trees, a colorful garden and small waterfall. Breakfast was most... More

The main attraction of this homestay is the lovely surroundings of the house, quite literally set within the jungle. We saw langur monkeys a couple of times in the tree when we were just around on the patio areas. The rooms are nice, but not quite 'luxury' as described with a few basic repairs that need to be completed -... More

What makes Nanga Damai so special? 1. The beautiful lush jungle surroundings, plants spilling over the balcony, leaves of bright greens, pinks and reds around the deep blue pool. Huge black butterflies passing by and visits from the occasional monkey. 2. Wonderful homely friendly welcoming atmosphere. Polycap's friend Ray was in charge during our stay and we couldn't have met... More

Very relaxing environment and a great place to stay in the area. Polycarp is the perfect host, welcoming, generous, entertaining, wise and inspiring. Beautiful location with the jungle behind you and the sea in front of you. Wonderful sunsets over the sea in the evenings, followed by Polycarp 's great company and a well stocked bar. The house is attractively... More

My review doesn't really apply to the place as due to unfortunate circumstances I had to cancel. My family and I had booked 2 nights last 25th of October. Bookings are made on an honesty basis so payment is done on arrival. On the 25th we missed by 5 minutes our flight on AK from Singapore to Kuching. I was... More

After a hectic itinerary of KL, Penang and Kuching, me and my fellow traveller were ready to drop anchor and rest for a couple of days. This homestay was perfect for a few days of uninterrupted peace. Nanga Damai is a tranquil citadel with a lush jungle backdrop. Much of our time was spent lounging on the big sofas in... More

I stayed at Nangan Damai in August. From the beginning, Polycarp, the owner responded quickly to all my e mails and queries. Booking was easy. We arrived by taxi from Kuching in torrential rain and were met by Polycarp with umbrellas and a welcome drink sitting around the big wooden table on the wonderful terrace. This is Polycarps beautiful home... More

By far the best option in the Damai area, a million miles away from the tired rooms and indifferent service you'd get from the hotels down the road. The accomodation both common and private rooms could not be faulted. Breakfast simple but filling and oozing quality. The best part though was the way Polycarp and Louise made you feel at... More
