Nanga Damai was truly a homestay, with Louise and Polycarp as our gracious hosts. Their beautiful home was quiet and peaceful, at the edge of the jungle. Our room was spacious and clean, and a nice breakfast was provided each morning. Louise and Poly went out of their way to make sure we saw the local community, and helped us... More

We spend 3 days there and loved it. The swimming pool is beautiful. Rooms are simple but clean and pleasant. We stayed in the Wallace cottage and had our own balcony from which to observe the jungle. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Definitely would stay there again. It is a bit of a walk to the restaurants but you can... More

We started our vacation on Borneo with a 3 nights stay at this amazing place (was only supposed to be 2). We had read the good reviews and expectations were high, but it did not disappoint! The rooms, the pool, the owner, the staff, the surroundings (literally at the edge of the rainforest), the breakfast and night cap with the... More

n many ways the key component in any homestay is the host and I doubt there is any host anywhere that would or could do more to ensure his guests have an enjoyable stay than Polycarp. He was constantly offering us lifts to the local area and giving us useful advice when planning our stay. We also enjoyed chatting to... More

I stayed 5 nights at the beginning of May 2014 in the romantic wooden Wallace's Cottage, with a view on the jungle from the veranda. I had the chance to see a group of Silvered Leaf Langurs and another of Long-tailed Macaques out there. The well maintained swimming pool, between the cottage and the main house, was a blessing on... The luxury aspect of Nanga Damai is the way the owner Polycarp looks after you and does as much as possible to make your stay in this beautiful area a very special one. Belinda who helps him was also a lovely person, very willing and helpful. I stayed 6 nights in April/May and I had booked the Ranee Margaret room... More

I arrived in early April for probably my 6th stay at Nanga Damai Homestay , and was again welcomed by Poly , Louise and staff as both an old friend and a guest , it was almost like returning home , the same friendly atmosphere , gorgeous tropical gardens lovingly planted and kept by Louise , the lush green jungle... We stayed for 5 nights in January of this year (2014). Both the property and the surrounding area are beautiful. The host and owner chatted over beer/wine with us every night - a very intelligent and interesting guy who speaks perfect English. The girls who clean and make breakfast for the guests are very friendly. The swimming pool was a... More

Poly and Louise welcomed us into their beautiful home, and couldn't have been more friendly and helpful in making our stay the highlight of our trip, showing us round the local area and suggesting activities and places to eat. Sitting around the large table at the end of the day sharing our stories and experiences was great. We stayed in... More
