Had a pleasant Christmas trip with my husband in Sabah. Jesselton hotel is one of the most romantically designed hotel in Sabah, perfect for honeymoon couple like us. Their Christmas decoration was beautiful. Hotel is clean and the room is cozy with a touch of classic wood finishing. Very helpful frontdesk reception, arranged a few nice trips for us in... more

Avoid this hotel. Too sum up, terrible maintenance, lots of bugs, broken and not working items, very slow breakfast, poor and manipulative service (Janet), overpriced for area, chemicals. I confirmed a room with 2 beds about a week before arrival. When we arrived, they gave us a room with only 1 bed. After I complained, they soon brought in a... more

We stayed here for 3 nights upon arrival in Kota Kinabalu and prior to roughing it on a 4 day jungle trek. Due to the price we paid through booking.com I must admit I wasn't expecting much, so I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. As soon as the doors are opened by the smiling doormen in their pith hats... more

We stayed twice in the Jesselton (before and after climbing Mt Kinabalu) and found it to be clean, quiet and with a charming old colonial atmosphere. It definately beats the plain western style hotels where you could be in any city in the world! The in-house restaurant served good food at reasonable prices although it wasn't clear whether breakfast was... more

This year we used the Jesselton as our base for a return to Sabah, staying there four times in three weeks. We could not have been more pleased. The efficient, friendly service; roomy, comfortable junior suite and excellent restaurant make it our favorite hotel in Kota Kinabalu. By the way, their junior suite includes a large, comfortable sitting room, bedroom,... more

For the price paid, this hotel was actually just so-so. A group of us booked 3 rooms here - we asked for 2 twin rooms and a triple, but got 2 doubles and a triple instead. Housekeeping seemed to be a bit slack in some ways. Amenities in the bathroom (shampoo, bath gel, etc) had not been replaced when we... more

Admist the hustle and bustle of old town Kota Kinabalu, Jesselton does not lose its charm as one of the best boutique hotel in town. There were only 32 rooms, over 5 or 6 levels, so it is very cozy, discreet. The hotel staff were friendly, rooms were clean, all electrical appliance works. Though these were all basic but a... more

Our family of six had just returned from KK and had stay in the Jesselton Hotel occupying 3 rooms. Except for one room that was without a mini fridge, we were all very pleased with our rooms. We find the housekeeping to be excellent, clean sheets and towels, very very clean bathroom with adequate toileteries and a hair-dryer just like... more

Stayed here for five nights with our teenage daughter in an adjoining room. Both rooms were on the third floor and a little shabby. In our room most of the lights didn't work and there was a hole in the wall where the hairdryer should have been. These were fixed upon request, but at bedtime I had the biggest complaint... more

The Jesselton maintains a colonial feel as you are greeted by the two smiling young doormen resplendent in pith helmets. In fact, all the staff are totally on the ball still offering good old fashioned service. We enjoyed a very comfortable stay which was excellent value for money. The restaurant attached serves great laksa. more
