I like building because it looks traditional , but hotel has lost its perfection and looks faded. Starts from the lobby armchairs which are dirty and untidy , then lift with scratchers and faded upholstery on it sides. Room is ok. Breakfast was included but if you stay more that 4 days you will get tired of eating eggs. If... More

The hotel communal areas are pretty well presented, and it sells itself on its historic background. However the rooms are perhaps tired rather than the right side of shabby chic. The queen bed in our room was adequate; the bathroom was however in need of update. Having said this, for the price point, the hotel is very good value. It... More

The Jesselton Hotel is a traditional hotel set in the centre of Kota Kinabalu. It is well placed to explore the city and trips to the islands. The staff are extremely friendly and can assist in even the most difficult tourist questions. There is a cafe directly over the road which serves simple breakfasts so eating is not an issue.... We felt so welcome and at home here. The staff was always ready with our room key the moment we walked in. Very clean. Location is very good with Gaya Street Sunday Market right outside the door. Good location.

Oldest hotel in KK. Actually very nice given its history & staff were always excellent. Inclusive breakfast included 2 coffees (no more) and one small glass of orange juice - otherwise ok. Newspaper each day which is a nice touch. Nice - not special; although better than many I have been to.

It's a perfectly adequate hotel with nice rooms, which are large and clean, and mostly well maintained. Bed was comfortable. The bathrooms are fine, but on the verge of looking tired. It's a good location (though nothing is really far in KK). Service is friendly. We would stay again.

I was living in Kota Kinabalu for many years. Now, when I go there I need an hotel to spend my overnight. Jesselton has always been my favorite and in June I decided to book my 3-night stay to this hotel. The location is super, in the heart of city centre, where everything is reachable on foot. Rooms nice and... More

This was an exceptional place, in what is easily the nicest part of the city centre.More comfortable than anywhere I have stayed in the last 10 years. Completely tasteful with a large room and lovely furnishings, nothing nasty and modern at all. Bathroom gorgeous, with a real bath too. Best of all ,the staff, a group of true friends for... More

Classic hotel, located at Jalan Gaya, the Heart of KK. If you like vintage or classic style of hotel, Jesselton may be is your choice. Friendly staff, really to provide help any time when you call. Please take note of the slow wifi internet. Less than 1Mbps.

The Jesselton is a classic piece of KK history and retains some of the colonial charm compared to some of the newer, more modern hotels. We stayed for two nights on either end of our trip- the first was in a standard room (they call it 'superior') and the second we were upgraded to a 'deluxe'. The superior room was... More
