I stayed there after climbing Kinabalu mountain. It's a very nice resort and the sunset bar is amazing. the may be off point for some people is that it's very child friendly and there are children everywhere. However we were four guys and this didn't bother us at all.

After a week exploring the jungle near Sandakan we arrived here anticipating a week of rest and luxury and we were not disappointed. From our arrival to departure we were delighted with the staff, facilities and location of this resort. We enjoyed eating in Pepino twice and used the lounge as part of our package. The pool is outstanding and... More

This hotel was Part 1 of our honeymoon, and the only way to describe it was 6 nights of paradise. We arrived early and were talked into upgrading from a Kinabalu Seaview Room to a Club Seaview Room for $200MYR extra p/n ($67AUD). You only honeymoon once right... The room was on the top floor with amazing views out to... More

Great location and pool/kids facilities. But for a 5 star Shangrila it needs an upgrade or they need to lower their prices. Not even a free shuttle bus and into town :(. A bit of a rip off. We stayed in the Kinabalu wing whuch is the oldest part of the hotel and while it was clean, the rooms were... More

We stayed at the Shangri La Tanjung Aru for 8 nights at the end of a fantastic trek across Sabah and enjoyed a faultless break. Friendly and immaculate staff, nothing too much trouble. We stayed in the Tanjung Wing (room 456) - our room was spacious, really well equipped, immaculately clean at all times and beautifully furnished. The room had... More

The pools and play area are great for the kids. One of the best places to catch sunshine. However the service was sub par for Shang's standard, and local Sabahan's are much more friendlier then most of the hotel staff. The duty managers were the most helpful and sincere, some of the frontdesk folks, were not pleasant. http://fyi-penang.blogspot.in/2014/04/sabah-kota-kinabalu-trip-planner-series.html

I stayed with my wife at this resort from 31st March to 4th April, during the Motorola annual event, the overall experience was really very good, the staff was very courteous, the front desk was very efficient., the rooms excellent, the over all layout of the hotel was nice and above all they have been successful to create the serene... Lovely hotel, very well laid out. You could relax by the 'adults only' section of the pool without even realising there was a whole section for children, complete the water slides, not far away. The hotel was very well designed. Service was wonderful, everyone was so kind and helpful. We even had drinks brought to us around the pool! Nothing... More

Comfortable rooms, bar and food at reasonable rates (for a 5 star hotel), but breakfast a bit crowded (maybe because it was mid-Feb, and Chinese new year still going on) making it feel, at times, a bit like an upmarket Butlins. Good choice of buffet food catering for many different styles (Chinese, Malay, Japanese, as well as western options). Great... More
