We, a group of 7, stayed here for 2 nights for climbing the Mount Kinabalu. I have never expected anything as it is at thousands metre high in the mountain but the hotel turns out to surprise me that their washroom provides all the basic amenities (towerls, toothrush, soap, slippers etc). Also, the canteen here provides hot dishes with choices... More

We managed to request for a 4-bed dorm right above the cafe for the 3 of us as we managed to arrive early. It was everything we need, clean sheets & 2 blankets. And also, some people still manage to shower with hot water at 8pm! My only complain is that there's only 2 toilet for everyone. The food for... More

I stayed 1 night in this guesthouse when I climbe mountain. Their food was good choice for many travellers. Their foods and service not great but ok for many travellers. The dorm room was tiny but clean bed The water just supplied from 16.30 to 3 a.m.

The place may seem a bit basic but it would be unreasonable to expect luxury accommodation at 3200m. When you arrive to the lodge after a 6km hike up, it does feel like paradise. Especially when it's sunny and you are on the terrace (amazing sunset views). The buffet style dinner was very good with a wide range of food... More

When I arrived to Laban Rata I was surprised. 3200m up the mountain and it looked like an ordinary dorm room that you see in a city. The beds are a bit bent but what is to be expected when you are on your way up. The mattresses were clean, and all the bedsheets white and fresh. We fell asleep... More

This guesthouse is overpriced for what it is. The showers are just a dribble of freezing water. There is no in room heating and little in the way of soundproofing. The meals are not great but edible. The staff are friendly and helpful.

i didnt really prepare myself for the climb up kinabalu so i was in pain and i was cold. All that mattered to me at the moment was warmth, somewhere to sit and warm food. I got all that. The canteen is a cosy warm rest area. The food is alright nothing horrible nothing 5-star worthy. The wintermelon soup is... More

It is very basic, but who cares when you are ready for the big climb. The room was like a prison cell, the bathroom was not clean. I stayed in a room with 8 other people. Food is just OK, but take some stuff with you (protein and cereal). These are easy to carry anyway. Just as an advice, as... More

No Wifi nor hot showers due to limited power supply up in the hill. But that's all understandable. As you are just staying here for a night to get some sleep / rest before you start climbing the last 1000m of Mt. Kinabulu again. The hostel is clean with all essentials you may need. The buffet dinner/supper/breakfast provided here will... More

We arrived at 2.30pm and were given a bunk in a four person room. Unfortunately the people we were sharing the room with did not come to the room until 9pm and then spent an hour getting ready for bed. The dorm next door were up at midnight for the next day's climb and so we had minimal sleep. To... More
