It was such a wonderful experience staying at the Blue Mansion. Not only do you get all the old-world charm, you also get all the new world benefits and comforts. The lobby and breakfast area are simply beautiful (and breakfast was delicious), the rooms were very comfortable, and we also enjoyed the pot of tea we had, just sitting outside... More

As it was our last day in Penang we were only able to take one of the guided tours. This was very good value and gave a wonderful insight into earlier life in Penang and can only praise the owners for embarking on such a restoration project. The first apparently to be done to allow George Town be awarded a... More

Our host, Poh, is so passionate about the Blue Mansion and the history of both the mansion and Penang generally. He told stories that made you laugh and some were a little on the naughty (not rude) side too - which is always a great thing :-) If you can get a tour into here and you like historical tours,... It was second time for me to stay here this time. Somebody asked me why I stayed at the same place not another hotel. Just because there is no other choice whenever I stay in Georgetown. To know about history of Penang, to know about the spirit of ancient people, moreover to get real spiritual feeling, this is the best... More

This is a unique place to stay while in George Town. The building is a historic house museum, which receives guests for stay. We spent 3 nights there and the experience was memorable. The building is stunning, and its conservation, renovation, and operation as a boutique hotel is very successful. It feels like staying with friends in a turn-of-the-century grand... More

This hotel is in a stunning building - a wonderfully restored Chinese merchant's villa. On top of that, the rooms are superb, the service charming, and great breakfasts. The location is in the world heritage buffer zone, and is really interesting and it's very easy to see most things in George Town from there. Some people have commented on the... More

My title summarizes it all. The boutique hotel has only about a dozen rooms and plenty of staff so service is invariably personal, helpful, prompt and polite. This comment about service also applies to the restaurant upstairs and the breakfast courtyard downstairs and as regards food, choice and quality are top notch. Rooms are more like suites actually, as they... More

The Blue Mansion would not be the place it is without the outstanding staff. Breakfast spread was excellent - it's hard to fault fresh fruit, perfectly poached eggs and very good coffee (the menu is much wider than that). The bed was very comfortable. I especially enjoyed staying in a character mansion as opposed to a purpose built hotel. It's... More

Ever since I saw a photo of the Blue Mansion on a brochure, I have wanted to stay there. My expectations were surpassed. Beautiful ponds outside the bedrooms, comfortable beds, tho' I hate doonas in the tropics. We enjoyed food and good wine in the restaurant -the lobster was a standout. Very helpful attentive staff.

We felt very honoured to stay in such a beautiful mansion. On our arrival we received a very warm welcome. Invited to go on a tour of the house, which was very interesting, so much history. The room was very comfortable and extremely clean. In the evening the beds are turned down and chocolates with a message, about sleep left... More
