LOCATION: REN I TANG Heritage Inn is located at 82-A Lebuh Penang within Georgetown's colourful & atmospheric Little India enclave. The streets are lined with speciality shops selling Indian food & groceries; ethnic fashion, textiles, jewellery & accessories; Bollywood films & music; and religious paraphernalia. This lively area is full of hustle & bustle with most businesses staying open till... More

I would without a doubt recommend Ren I Tang if you're visiting Penang, Georgetown. The heritage hotel has charming rooms, and lovely staff. Location is brilliant, everything is in walking distance and the atmosphere of Little India is brilliant. We stayed as a family, and were made to feel comfortable and welcome by the owners. Karen ( one of the... More

Everything was great at Ren i Tang. Started with a warm welcome by the staff, great recommandation (food and places to visit), nice room with private balcony. Free breakfast is good with your choice of eggs, toast, muesli and bananas. Tea/coffee (instant) and lime juice. Very authentic and charming place.

We head to Penang annually for a weekend getaway to just eat and chill. Group count this trip was 11pax and 5 rooms. My first at Ren I Tang but the second time for most of my friends and it came highly recommended and after staying for 2 nights I can attest to it. I love how quaint and centrally... More

Every year, a bunch of us would drop everything and head to Penang for a food trip - we've been doing this since 2009. This was our second time staying at Ren I Tang with 11 of us in 5 rooms. Karen was the best host ever with amazing food recommendations (her recommendations were literally our itinerary) and she was... More

My friends and I traveled in a group of 3 to George Town. To our pleasant surprise, Karen (the manager) was anticipating our arrival and welcomed us warmly. As first-time visitors, we were not familiar with the destination. So, she pointed out her favorite eateries on a map. Our favorite has got to be the Nonya (Peranakan) store just a... More

Beautifully renovated old building, wonderful 19th century atmosphere but with 21st century convenience, and run by people who could not be more friendly and helpful. It's perfectly positioned for street stalls, UNESCO heritage area, buses and the ferry to the mainland, yet offers an oasis of calm, as well as a good cafe. As a single traveller I had a... More

Me and my fiance stayed at Ren I Tang together with his family in March. It was a discovery by his sister who browsed many heritage inns/hotels on TripAdvisor. It was a lovely stay for the two nights we were there. With a limited number of rooms, the owner knew us by face and greeted us upon arrival (at 11+... More

Ren I Tang is a beautiful old building, that is well maintained and tastefully decorated with a cosy, yet classy feel. The location, in the middle of little India, is perfect for getting around town, and feels less hectic than some other areas of the city. At night, it's quiet and the rooms are completely dark. I slept very well.... More

Every rave review you've read here about Ren i Tang is true and then some. This heritage inn is both a living testament to Georgetown's rich history AND a gorgeous boutique hotel with character, refinement, heart & soul. We've travelled the world and Ren i Tang tops them all. Karen's generous spirit plus the beautiful restoration - handwoven Kashmir rugs,... More
