Stayed here in March this year and had to come back again as we enjoyed it so much. The hotel is very elegant and as soon as you walk in you feel pampered. The staff are very nice and friendly and are happy to advise on any excursions or questions you might have. We enjoyed talking to Saleem on reception... More

Stay a night at the deluxe suite - heritage wing 2 weeks ago. The room was great, comfortable bed, large bathroom, nice bathtub with some romantic decoration upon request. The hotel is located near the jetty and town center. It is just 5-10mins drive to Komtar. The breakfast is good and the service of the staff in the hotel is... More

Hi on our 3rd annual visit to this hotel, the service from the manager Harold to the doorman was as usual top draw. The hotel is steeped in history with all the modern facilities as expected, the food from the 2 excellent chefs in the Sarkies restaurant is excellent, along with their sense of humour, all the staff make you... We arrived at the hotel from the 0600 ferry and were immediately whisked to the most elegant room. Truly special. Staff so attentive and friendly. Breakfast superb, no taste not catered for. Swimming pool area very restful with excellent service when needed. One night simply not enough.

A wonderful experience in this exceptional hotel.we stayed in the old part. It was built around the same time and to similar specs as Raffles in Singapore. Everything about this place reeks of class and you get what you pay for. Brilliant location with friendly staff who find nothing is too much trouble. A most enjoyable stay.

The hotel is a Heritage icon not only of Penang but of South East Asia. It has a remarkable history attached to it. Rudyard Kipling, Charlie Chaplin and Somerset Maugham had been guests here to name a few. We chose this hotel for our daughter's wedding in January next year because of its history, ambience and the professional , efficiency... More

We booked this hotel for a short 3 day stay when visiting Malaysia this year. We wished we could have stayed longer. It was a wonderful experience, pure luxury. The rooms were large and airy and very clean and comfortable and styled on the older raffles colonial style, The restaurants especially the planters offered such a wide variety of different... More

Nice hotel n nice rooms. Everyone gets to enjoy wine n light refreshments at six. Problem is that caucasians get greeted by the manager and any other race gets ignored. Colonial hotel with colonial attitude. Nice hotel but too bad about the colonial attitude... Too bad... There are nice staffs to be fair... Armand at the planters lounge was great... More

This is the second time we stayed there. The first time it left a lasting impression, especially the huge bathroom. However, this time round, it seemed a little tired looking- not a lot just a little.

We have a comfortable stay in the hotel. Love the heritage building & the comfortable room. The check-in went smoothly for us. Our room faced the sea so it's great. However, it would be great that the management take note to place some bath salts since you have such a beautiful bathtub in the room. We enjoy the international breakfast... More
