We came from the chaos of KL to the calm of Coffee Atelier, where we found spacious suites and incredibly friendly staff who were extremely helpful - booking us taxis and serving a delicious breakfast in the morning. The rooms are huge, very evocative and we loved the four-poster bed and walk-in rain shower. The suites stay true to their... More

George Town is probably one of my favourite places I've ever visited and this is a great place to stay. It's not a traditional hotel, so if you're after hot and cold running bell-boys and ice-machines at the end of the hall, this is not the place for you. But if you're after a spacious, comfortable base from which to... More

Coffee Atelier captures the essence of George Town after the wonderful restoration and conservation work done post-UNESCO listing. The building and rooms are beautiful and very nicely renovated - updated only to ensure visitors have all the "mod cons," but maintaining most of the original features. Unlike in the larger, modern hotels, staying at Coffee Atelier is most definitely going... More

Tucked away from busy streets is a colonial historical yet artistic cozy vacation home or place of retreat after a full day of spotting street art, biking the entire town, or scrumptiously trying delish hawker munchies! The staff are friendly and helpful, ask them for tips or best spots - they know it! Rooms are lavishly decorated in old romantic... More

This is right slap bang in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Area of Georgetown. The building dates from 1927 and was a series of 'shop houses' - i.e. merchants operated their shops on the ground floor and they lived with their families immediately above the shops. The building appears to be very close to its original condition. It... More

We didn't meet the owner Stefan as he was away on holiday, but the staff who welcomed us were charming. A taxi had been pre-booked to meet us at the airport and another arranged for when we needed to get to the Ferry terminal to get our train back to KL. We stayed in a ground floor suite which was... Glad you had a good time in Penang and that you enjoyed your stay at our little place. Apologies for the power brake - the whole area was affected. This problem happens a few times a year and it is a big nuisance, but unfortunately out of our control. More

Stayed at 49A & B in late July. Great staff-polite, welcoming, helpful-right from our arrival till we left. Nice boutique touch, from taking you around the apartment and showing all that it offers, to equipping us with all the information we need, like a map and dining recommendations. Shophouse itself is lovely: modern facilities yet preserving the unique heritage of... More

They turned this heritage building into little cozy stays where the rooms are decorated in Chinese style deco so you get a taste of the old experience which are kept clean, with a cozy romantic bed and plenty of space to relax.
