1. Location: Within Georgetown itself; thus, within easy reach of the major sites in the heritage area. Across the lane is a 24-hour coffee shop which sells Muslim-Indian food, which adds to the attraction of the hotel. 2. Rooms: I had a 2-bedroom suite, which was beautifully appointed. Rooms were huge, and bathrooms were also very large. Beautiful furniture and... More

We like small hotels which pay attention to details and Hotel Penaga did not disappoint. The owners of the hotel, a Malaysian architect and his wife, have integrated the landscaping, the furnishings, the rooms, and the common areas so that they all flow together to provide modern comforts while keeping the charm of the old town. Penang is known for... More

Stayed for 6 nights. V v nice room. Good size, comfy, v clean, furnished well, good character, nice mix of traditional and contemporary Interesting building, in great location But, after a couple of nights we began to see just how in personal the hotel is. One member of staff for breakfast was very caring, but other than that the staff... More

Penaga was such a great hotel, I would really urge you to consider this one if travelling to Penang. It has such a great location of Jalan Hutton, within 5 minutes walk you are in a variety of interesting locations. Our room was beautiful, very boutique, very antique, and really was paradise after our flights from Australia (red eye connecting... More

Had a good stay at Penaga hotel. The hotel (rooms and public areas) is decorated with lot of antiques and eye for detail. Staff was very friendly, especially the reception staff. Breakfast was good with warm as well as cold choices, fruit, egg station, pastries, yoghurt. The pool is not big but good enough to cool down on a hot... More

NIce Place to Stay. Had a lovely room, spacious and airy. Beautifully Decorated. A comfortable bed to jump into after a long day on the feet discovering George Town…..Reception staff friendly, especially Mazlina who greeted us on our arrival. You were ever so helpful Mazlina, directing us to places to eat that you guessed we would enjoy as Europeans. You... More

The Penaga is too big to be a boutique hotel, but it has the feel of one. Most of it is a new build hotel incorporating some older terrace houses. Our room was on the top floor which meant the bed was in a loft with a sitting area below. The room was enormous. There is a narrow pool long... More

We stayed here as a first stop on a 2 week tour of Malaysia. We arrived after the check in time and were told to wait 5 minutes that turned into 15 whilst another couple arrived after us and went straight to their room. Our room wasn't what we booked and were put in an 'upgraded suite' that directly overlooked... More

We stayed there in September and had a really nice time there. We had a lovely room overlooking the pool. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The restaurant in the hotel (I forget the name) was pretty good but not in any way out of the ordinary. My only issue was that it was just a little far away... More

We stayed there during recent fam trip in Dec 2013. I just love the blend of old and new in the room - airy & spacious (40 sq m comparable to 5-star deluxe hotel) and dust-free amidst the window wooden louvres & antique furniture & super comfy bed. The room is thoughtfully space with enough settees if you've visitors, &... More
