We stayed for three nights at Hotel Penaga. There were many lovely things about the hotel. The décor is a nice combination of old style with modern updates, the rooms are spacious, and the location is very convenient to many attractions in the Heritage District of Georgetown. We were traveling with children, who really enjoyed the pool which, though small... More

You see the word Heritage all over the place in Georgetown since the Zone was granted UNESCO Status. ´The word heritage typically means any pre-war building still standing. However, the Penaga really is a Heritage Boutique Hotel. Its interiors in the hallways and rooms are quite nice, everything is well conserved. Each room has contemporary art works from the Rimbun... Headed over to Penang for the weekends and I have read reviews of this hotel that the noise generated from the vehicles travelling on the roads below can be heard from the room. I stayed in Room 29, facing the road and yes, this is a problem. However, I strongly feel that it shouldn't be a cause of concern unless... More

Atmospheric. Beautifully furnished. Beautiful artworks and framed fabrics. Lovely breakfast. Loved the lap pool in the midst of gorgeous garden surrounded by city noises. Good location. We stayed 4 nights in Hatton balcony room - great sleeping. But best of all, wonderful staff who were genuinely attentive and personal- Annie at reception and Raz the waiter. We'll be back!

The location of this hotel is perfect for exploring Georgetown and the staff were really helpful when arranging trips out of town. The room I had was great, a home from home, they gave me a free up grade to a suit, which was massive, away from the main hotel reception but no problem. Breakfast was good, nice selection of... For the price paid, I have to say it was a bit of a let down. Service was just okay. The staff were not exactly very friendly. The walkway to the hotel room looks a bit dodgy with the old carpet. The air-conditioning is not very good in my room. Spent very long to get the room cold. The best... More
