One of the worst hotel experiences I've had. It's extremely noisy around the Straits collection. The market that occurs every evening in the park draws crowds who urinate in the open drains on the side of the end unit. Every evening when you walk outside of your door you are met with an overwhelming stench. There is a mosquito issue... More

This is by far the worst accommodation my family and I have stayed overseas. It ruined our holiday experience in Penang. A plethora of problems which require immediate attention, namely the management's failure to provide proper amenities, such as how to deal with disease-carrying mosquitoes which constantly entered and exited the accommodation. Not a good thing from a health and... More

Its all bvery well to reclaim and renovate a heritage venue but the air-conditioning was made ineffective by virtue of poorly sealed walls. In the intense heat of Penang in july it was a most uncomfortable experience. We have had better experiences in that regard in oppressively hot India-ceiling fans are more effective

I generally take lots of time to research and review my hotels, through a combination of tripadvisor, online reviews on various hotel booking sites and if at all possible through locals telling me if the locations are worthwhile. Hence, it is rare that I rate a hotel poorly because I like to do my research thoroughly, but in this case,... More

Lovely location in heritage part if Georgetown. You can walk anywhere. The space was plenty for us and the tv had many channels. A small refrigerator with minor things like coffee/tea is also provided. Room cleaning is every other day so this isn't a hotel but somewhere between. Showers are in open space and water runs from top to bottom... More

Comfortable , spacious house in the UNESCO heritage area of Georgetown. Great location and lovely people. No restaurant on site however plenty of cafes nearby with breakfast on offer, including China House with the best cakes in town! Great value for money.

This time we decided to leave the beaten track and opted to stay in an old Chinese Merchants House. At arriving at the house there was nobody there but we soon found out that you had to pick up the key just a few houses further down the road. The houses (there are 3 of them, if I'm right) are... Stayed in 95 Armenian Street mid July 14'. House was well maintained and renovated while retaining the 70s feel. Brought back memories of my granny's place. There are some interesting museums housed in neighboring houses. The house itself feels like a museum with many antique furnishings. Cons : Lots of mosquitoes, battle gears provided. Noisy thieves' market just beside house... More

My initial reaction when I arrived was disappointing as I am more used to staying in hotels like the Shangri-La but I soon adapted and in hindsight we really got to appreciate the real Georgetown. Initially we stayed in no. 91 before going off to Kuching for a few days and then came back and stayed in no. 95 which... More

Our family stayed for a night where we book 2 units of the collection recently. It was definitely in the heart of the Georgetown Heritage Zone with all the sights within a short walk away. The place is very busy througout day (probably because of CNY celebration) except for late nights or early morning. The ambience was great and we... More
