We've stayed in a few not so great places in George Town, and heard terrible stories about a few more, and that's the main reason we've been to Banana Boutique twice now, and we will stay there again. It's not that it's anything great, more that it's better than the alternatives that are a similar price. The rooms are adequate.... More

Fantastic staff, owner too.... good rooms with a retro' style.... I was there with my two sons and we get a triple room. i love the shower room.... colored glass everywhere. The restaurant was exellent and with various kind of food. We taste our "tiger beer" and the ambience was fantastic... in the middle of famous Chiula street.

My husband n I were disappointed with the ground floor room cos: 1. Not well lit as only got 2 wall lights 2. Got mosquitoes flying n when I told the reception, they said will spray later but did not do so 3. No tooth brush n tooth paste provided 4. Did not get to enjoy the breakfast as restaurant... More

I stayed at the banana hotel for a night, for thai visa purposes. I can't say nothing bad about it: room was clean, I had 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels. Shower was hot, I only had to find the boiler power switcher. for dinner and in the morning we had a call from the reception, so I didn't... More

Stayed there because of my visa run. For that reason the hotel is ok, but I would not stay there for holidays. If you stay at this hotel, because of a visa run the hotel might be full. The breakfast is very standard and not much to offer, but I did not pay that much as it was included in... More

I don't expect for the hotel appearance to be grand because we did not book for it personally but our agency for our visa run.I was happy to settle with the room because it will keep me safe for a night in Malaysia.Turning things around was the level of service given by their FO staff. The story goes like this: Coming... We arrived when George Town was full to capacity and Banana Boutique was a port in the storm. The hotel is well located, rooms adequate for the price and quiet. the rooms are very average. The breakfast is poor. The hotel appears to survive on regular groups arriving on visa runs from Thailand. the reception staff were helpful and accommodating. I... More

Upon arrival I was met with a very efficient, polite although very matter of fact Indian lady. I was in my room within 3 minutes of arriving. Wasn't very welcoming but impressive I thought. I don't need smiles if I can get to my room quickly after a long journey. I wasn't even asked for a deposit or credit card.... More

Overall, Banana Boutique Hotel treats guests like they never expect to see them again. In this case they won't. Read on for the details or save some time and search for another hotel instead. Only gets a star because Tripadvisor requires it. Mosquitoe infested dank dark room (and that was after paying for an upgrade). Towels old and thin and... More
