Hidden in the small print (and I mean small) is 5the fact that all the booking made via their own website are NON refundable. I understand Hotels making some bookings non refundable - special rates, peak times etc.but ALL of them ALL the time is totally unreasonable. Also they emailed me back my full credit card details...that's right all my... More

Not sure what to expect before checking in but the hotel is not a great place to stay. From the outside, the look is grand with a huge building for the size of a small town such as Ipoh. Upon checking in, we found that the hotel is dirty, worn-out, and with poor services. Checking in was slow. With a... More

Having stayed at the Syuen on a number of occassions and having never had any issues I booked a room for me and my daughter. Boy was I wrong!! They gave us a room on the 7th floor and it was disgusting!! The bathroom was dirty and tired and the towels in a woeful state!!! Last straw a cockroach and... More

This is a classic example of you get what you pay for. The hotel is in a good location for what there is to see in Ipoh (which isn't much unfortunately). We got a deal for $60 Australian per night including breakfast which was ok. Had I paid more I would have been disappointed. If you are into street food... More

Room is big, and bed comfortable. Location is good. Nearby are many eateries, and also a shopping mall opposite. Reception staff are friendly and efficient. Wi fi is available in both room and lobby. Breakfast is ok, mainly local varieties. However, there is no safe available. The shower tap was faulty and bathing troublesome. TV viewing has limited stations. No... More

We stayed one night here after transferring from another hotel in town. The room was clean and quiet with a great view of the surrounding area. Breakfast was very average but the location close to some of the best restaurants in ipoh made up for it. Not luxury but functional and clean. It does need updating

I spent about 3 weeks in this hotel. I think the rooms are being renovated as they look different to some of the pictures posted here. The main thing I like about the hotel is that you can easily walk to some of the more famous restaurants in Ipoh. The rooms and public areas in the hotel are generally clean.... More
