The Ideal Traveller's Guest House describes itself on its website as "an obsolete winner"...and it truly is. It's a haven of tranquility and comfort in the centre of Malaysia's Islamic capital, Kota Bharu. The breakfasts are fantastic and the owners are some of the friendliest people in South East Asia. We were a bit baffled by the terrapins in washing up bowls at reception, but everything else was very normal! I recommend it, especially for backpackers.
