My wife and I spent 4 nights at The Datai and had a wonderful time! We went there to celebrate my birthday, relax on the beach and also for me to play golf at the Els Club Teluk Datai which is 5 min by car from the hotel. The property at The Datai is beautiful and is right on the... More

My husband and I stayed for four nights last week in a superior villa on half board. I simply can't find fault with this place. The entire place is fabulous and the staff endlessly helpful and courteous. We signed up for the sunset cocktail cruise and what a delight it was. As the only guests on board we were treated... I stayed at The Datai Langkawi for 3 nights, and i did not want to leave. I could have stayed on a few more nights. Beautiful to be with nature in the rain forest- and so much to do at the resort and close by. I stayed in the Beach Pool Villa, which was an incredible experience. Not only are... More

Firstly, we had the cheapest room in the resort. Special rates for locals. Got a room in the main wing for 3 nights. Celebrating our 25th anniversary and they kindly set up our room with petals, swan towels, lovely cake and a card! We travel a lot and were looking for a quiet place with a nice beach and in... The Datai has one of the loveliest, and most unspoilt, settings of any Malaysian luxury hotel. A perfect place for busy executives to unwind and recharge. A special mention for Irshad Mobarak's wonderful nature walks, which really distinguish the Datai from other resorts. Try the sticky rice at the Thai restaurant.

We were hugely impressed upon arrival, and it stayed that way. You can read the other reviews about the property, the beach, the monkeys, etc. I want to write about something else we saw: passion and commitment. On our second day at Datai, we noticed setup for a beach wedding ceremony and dinner. But as the ceremony progressed, dark clouds... More

I got married at The Datai over Easter and am still walking on clouds when I think about my time there. The whole experience was magical. We stayed for 6 nights and from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, all the staff went out of their way to make our time there special. The hotel is nestled... More

The Datai is hard to fault. The setting is immaculate: the sweeping Datai bay, framed by steep mountains covered in rain forest, it all makes for a deeply atmospheric and other-worldly experience. Yes the Datai is old - it opened in 1994 - however it has aged very well. The standard rooms in the main building are spacious and well... More

We went to the Datai with our two little boys in August of last year, and had an amazing time. We found the resort stunning. Woke up with monkeys peeking at us from our balcony window. The beach was full of tiny crabs, the forest was filled with birds. Saw a huge black snake slithering over the road in front... More

The Datai is sometimes called the best hotel in Malaysia. I haven't been to all of them, but it would certainly be worthy to be in the list of the best. The setting is amazingly eco-sensitive. The resort is quite sizable, but mostly hidden in the rainforest. Rooms are large and luxurious, with balconies looking into the tree tops and... More
