It was by chance that we stayed at this property and we are so grateful to have had the opportunity. We walked into a heritage home on a hot day and were welcomed warmly with a nice cold beverage and tour of the property and run down of the amenities. The staff were incredibly helpful and so friendly. We felt... More

This hotel is exceptional is the result of dedicated and talented work transporting and reconstructing traditional Malaysian buildings to this location. They range of simple but sophisticated Plantation room to a magnificent Chinese house. The attention to detail is extraordinary and the beautiful artefacts in every room are stunning. This does not feel like a hotel at all and in... More

I was lucky to get a last minute booking at the end of November during the high peak season. I was greeted with warm welcome and refreshing glass of pineapple house drink. Received a rather friendly introduction and also a private tour to some parts of the rooms. One of it being Penang house. I booked the Plantation 1 which... More

This is a hard one to review. Temple Tree has a lot of charm, but if you go there expecting luxury, you'll be disappointed. We went based on Lonely Planet's review, which included words like "grand" and "stately", neither of which are remotely accurate, and which led to a poor first impression when we pulled into the driveway. There are... More

The rooms are fine - everything works! Breakfast is left overnight in the fridge, so if you are after a full English, you'll have to go next door to the Bon Ton. For us, the quiet start with a leisurely light breakfast was ideal. Other meals are available at Temple Tree and we had a couple which were fine ('dinner... More

This is probably one of the most unusual and unique hotels I have ever stayed in. We decided to have 3 day trip to Langkawi while holidaying in Singapore and I am so glad we were recommended this hotel. I loved the fact it was so different. We arrived at the hotel and we were sat down with a drink... More

I was looking for somewhere different too stay for this holiday on Langkawi with my sister, not the big chain resort. My first choice was Bon Ton, but it was booked over the Christmas break, so I decided to book the next door property as it looks really nice and unusual. We had a great time in the Colonial house,... Super nice place. Tranquil atmosphere in a hard-to-describe setup with a little park of villas from different styles - Malay, Chinese.. - no beach, but very nice swimming pools, no stress at all, very boutiquish, overall lovely. Villa (Penang 2) has been spacious with antique furniture and some little gimmicks that made us happy - some "gamat" balm against insect... More

The Colonial house was charming, comfortable and provided perfect respite. We stayed in two different properties on our Langkawi trip but in retrospect wished we'd done the entire time with Temple Tree. The service was attentive and considerate (they draw the mosquito nets and turn on the electronic repellent thingy each evening). Love the breakfast in bed concept but could... More
