In 30+ years of travelling, this is quite simply the best accommodation we have experienced, and best value by a mile. On entering the resort, one is transported back to the Malaya of yesteryear. The owner has faithfully relocated representative houses from 100 or so years ago. One has the choice of imagining to be a Chinese Trader, Penang Merchant,... More

All the good reviews pretty much sum up Temple Tree to a tea - if you're bored with 5* resorts and resort prices and 'everything in one location' living then try Temple Tree, it's a trip off the beaten track and a journey back in time. I love the old-fashioned, rustic nature of Temple Tree - the owner has done... More

We stayed here for four nights and loved it. The staff is friendly. The houses and rooms are original. The food was great at both the Bon Ton and the temple tree. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that there are cats everywhere and a dog by the reception. If you are not a big pet... More

My travel companions and I loved the design concept of Temple Tree. Each building were beautifully assembled and decorated with antique ornaments. The environment was very different from that of hotel/resort which we are used to, but the friendly staff provided us the same, if not more, courteous services. The cats around the property were very chilled and relaxed, and... More

Temple Tree (TT) is only a short 15 minutes drive from the airport on a scenic road of paddy fields & shore lines. The hotel is not located on the beach but an estate plantation. Pantai Cenang is a short walk away 10 minutes or 5 minutes by car. When we arrived, James (an Australian intern at TT) welcomed us... More

We did a weekend trip to get away from Singapore. We read about the Temple Tree and thought it would be an interesting alternative to the big brand hotels. The hotel is a collection of antique buildings which have been converted to hotel rooms. The layout of the property is charming, the cats are numerous (and very friendly), and they... More

As an animal lover and owner of 8 cats I loved the fact that cats roam at will on the resort. They do not bother clients but co-exist comfortably. I brought a cat to my room and I felt completely at home. Staff were friendly but food a tad expensive. The whole resort was quaint

We stayed at the quaint Temple Tree Resort where they had restored antique villas for rent as one or as individual hotel rooms. We stayed at the 'Plantation House' as we travelled as a family and needed two rooms. Upon arrival we were served an icy cold drink, which was much appreciated in the hot afternoon. We were well looked... More

Had the pleasure to stay at the Temple Tree for 3 nights in March and simply loved it. The character and uniqueness of the resort amazed us, we loved the decor of our house and the food at both Temple Tree and the Bon Ton was fabulous and definitely must be tried. My friend had her 5 month old baby... More

We just returned from a 4 night stay at Temple Tree. It is difficult to sum it up adequately, because it is so unique. While Bon Ton, the sister property next door, is a collection of Malay huts, fitted out as hotel rooms, Temple Tree is a small selection of old wooden Malay houses harvested from various parts of Malaysia... Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Though classified as B&B/Inn, Temple Tree is actually more of a boutique resort of many cultures, an eclectic mix of heritage chic...Antique buildings of Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian origin, make up this 8 villa hotel, with 8 rooms & 6 suites now open. Each building has, over its 70-110 year old history, created its own heart and soul. Hopefully we have given due respect to each of these family homes with the restoration process. These houses are now the continuing story of people who live in them, our guests. ... more   less
