Myself and my partner stayed at Temple Tree at the beginning of September 2014, and from start to finish it was an utterly unique and lovely experience. The welcome, with a refreshing cocktail and lots of really useful information about the hotel and Langkawi itself, was something you wouldn't get in a 'brand' hotel. Temple Tree has a real homely... Me and my partner stayed here on our tour of Malaysia. Firstly the welcome to the resort was lovely, a real personal feel about the whole thing. Greeted with a refreshing cocktail to cool down and a brief intro to the rooms and to Langkawi itself. We stayed in the colonial building in room 1. First impressions were basic. But... More

Awesome place to relax, it feels like being lost somewhere in the middle of Africa. The location is great, surrounded by a lake and rice fields, and living in the really quiet traditional houses is awesome. But the hotel was still quite expensive, and service was definitely not good, I found really disgusting that the entire hotel is full of... More

My husband and i stayed at the temple tree for 3 nights on our honeymoon, we were very happy and excited to stay at this charming and beautiful boutique hotel. The hotel has a lot of character... Beautiful surrounding with a lot of lush greens and the estates brings a very rustic feel to the whole atmosphere. The rooms were... More

Many thanks for your honest comments- naturally we are very concerned that you not only didnt enjoy your stay with us, but that you felt the resort was not up to your expectations. We have just stayed at this hotel for four nights in estate room five. I have just re-read the review recently posted by TintininOz and I almost want to cut and paste it, as our experience and view of the hotel is almost identical. We have enjoyed our stay very much, but the beautiful quirky character of the property does... More

Forget the island hopping. Forget the cute monkeys and glorious sunshine. One of the delights of staying in Langkawi was staying at the serenely regal and tranquil Temple tree. This was our first stop in Malaysia - and what a place to shrug off jet lag, wind down and relax, - and meet some attentive cats. We stayed in a... More

Four nights here wasnt long enough. I just loved this place. A collection of relocated heritage buildings in a garden setting with exquisite views of Langkawi's mountains - so gorgeous. Rooms were rustic but very comfortable and atmospheric and had wifi. The pool was tranquil and serene. The staff were lovely, helpful and efficient, always happy to call us a... More

Amazing atmosphere created by relocated heritage housing tucked away in gorgeous tropical Malaysian countryside. Unbelievable views of mountains from the pool. The pool and surrounding area is gorgeous so natural and peaceful the tranquillity cannot beaten!! The rooms themselves are rustic but have all mod cons- e.g nice spacious bathrooms and air conditioning, so much character you feel like you... More

We wanted something different to your usual chain hotel and we were not disappointed. The houses are rustic and have a great genuine feel of staying in a 'Malay style' house. Rooms are clean and comfortable with plenty of space. From the moment we checked in till we checked out nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Look forward... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Though classified as B&B/Inn, Temple Tree is actually more of a boutique resort of many cultures, an eclectic mix of heritage chic...Antique buildings of Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian origin, make up this 8 villa hotel, with 8 rooms & 6 suites now open. Each building has, over its 70-110 year old history, created its own heart and soul. Hopefully we have given due respect to each of these family homes with the restoration process. These houses are now the continuing story of people who live in them, our guests. ... more   less
