I recently spent eight days at Sea Gypsy Village on Sibu Island off Malaysia’s east coast with my wife, son, daughter-in-law and two young grandchildren. I chose Sea Gypsy on the basis of weather, cost, appearance, family accommodation and Tripadvisor reviews. Firstly, the Sea Gypsy web site is informative and very reliable. This is not a luxury resort but if... More

Stayed for 2 nights, it was fantastic and extremely family friendly! Stayed in a 2 bed chalet. My 3 kids had a room with 2 sets of bunk beds, we had a comfy double. The fab staff take the kids for dinner and games, so the adults can relax for a couple of hours! The island is safe and quiet,... More

We stayed 3 nights, second time we stayed at the Sea Gypsy resort. We will certainly return once more. We had a family chalet with two separate rooms that could in total sleep six. Chalet was close to a small play-ground, with sea-view. Overall expect not too much luxury but a clean and practical chalet. Don't worry, aircon is not... More

A little patch of paradise very close to Singapore! We stayed here for a long weekend with our 6 months old baby. It's a very charming "village" of small cottages, all with seaview, and a restaurant and a bar. The food was really good, especially the BBQ night on Saturday evening. Also they serve a "baby food" menu, making everything you... More

We stayed 3 nights. Are a family with 4 kids 8-15 years old. Had a challet with 2 rooms one with a double bed, one with 2 bunk beds. Ceiling fans and night breeze made sleeping comfortable. Snorkeling, diving, bathing, island exkursions are the activities offered. There is a nice bar and restarant area to sit and read a good... More

My Family and I went recently for a short break and thoroughly enjoyed it. Beware though, unless you are Really prepared for a basic room you may have difficulty with the accommodation as it can be very warm at night with no a/c. Staff very cool and super friendly :)

We went to Sea Gypsy over Chinese New Year Holiday earlier this year. We were apprehensive before going since I hate camping and bugs. We went with a group and each drove separately. We stayed in a small bungalow and it was nice. It had a little electricity with the light switches and bathroom lighting. I agree with the reviewer... More

Even with heavy bug repellent and avoiding the sand and staying in the ocean i am left with a lot of bites from sand flies. Sandfly bites are really itchy n may scar. There is no air-conditioning so it was really hot at night. We had to open the windows and use mosquito nets which worked but also prevented the... More

We set our expectations quite low because it seems wherever we go we are surrounded by screaming kids and crap service. But we were genuinely impressed with this place, it's exactly as advertised. Very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There were a few kids but we have no idea where they went during the day because... More

Great place for chilling and getting away from day to day life. No internet no cars. They offer children services, although not all day and definitely aimed at the older children. Lots of expat families go which crestes a bit of a 'unique' environment, will suit some, but not everyone. A nice 'front of house' gentleman called Hilman puts a... More
