Our family travelling with friends from Singapore to Sibu. Expect extra charges for two pick ups within the same mini bus. Boat ride ok with the necessary life vests for adults and kids. At the resort you are welcomed with free drinks and the Happy song by W Farey. We found out later that the song was played each time... More

We travelled here just for the weekend, from Singapore. We did not dive, but we went on the "Sunset Island Cruise" which was fun. They take you in a boat to a small deserted island and make a bonfire. It is a bit expensive--RM50pp, plus you have to buy your drinks to take. (Maybe they could include one drink/beer). Anyways,... We visited here with a group of friends for the weekend and had a great time. It is a rustic getaway and a great place to relax away from the craziness of modern life. The huts are very basic but clean and there is no hot water or air com but the fans are good and keep you cool at... More

We took 4 kids to the Sea Gypsy in July, aged 1,4,11 and 13. I am quite savvy at planning trips so I was doing a lot of research about buses out of Singapore etc but the owner offered to arrange all our transport to and from Singapore airport and back again including a trip to LEGOLAND on the way... We've been going to Sea Gypsy for years as a place to completely escape. As everyone notes, it's not fancy, but that's part of what makes it great. You don't have to think about anything, except possibly which books you're going to read and whether or not to have a beer at lunch. The lack of internet and mobile access... More

Agree with all the good things written on this site however the kid's menu could be improved. The adults food was great, lovely curries cooked from scratch etc. The kids food had a little too much emphasis on deep frying. In my experience, kids will happily eat rice and plain fish or chicken. Surely this would be a parent-preferred choice... More

What an amazing holiday. We arrived to be greeted by the friendly staff and manager, Sam, with big smiles and a welcome cocktail. The accommodation was completely in keeping with the environment, but with lovely comfortable beds and bathrooms ensuite. The menus are well thought out and healthy with a good variety and beautifully cooked & presented. Afternoon tea with... More

First of all, one needs to know there's no A/C, no TV or wifi. It is planned that way to have folk focus on the paradise it self, each other, etc. Once you know the above, the place is amazing. Beautiful beach with clear water. You can even snorkel right at the side of the resort, but of course the... More

My husband and I stayed at Sea Gypsy for 3 nights in October. We took the 6 pm mini van, which due to the long weekend was packed and hence wasn't the most comfortable, but was ok. We reached the ferry point around 9:30 and the ferry ride was spooky and fun in the night. The next morning, which was... More

I could not imagine a better place for a long weekend getaway for a family with children looking for a beautiful beach and a bit of adventure. It is basic, but clean accommodations that put you right on a beach with beautiful water and plenty activities to do. You need to know what is to be expected. There is no... More
