My boyfriend and I stayed at Pakachere over Christmas and enjoyed our stay. We stayed in a double room which was really comfortable, clean and well equipped. However it was right next to the main entrance and opened out onto a big social area so it wasn't particularly private or quiet. The food was good and very reasonably priced. They... More

My favorite place to get away for a weekend when I am living in Malawi a few months out of the year. A favorite place of PCVs and ex-pats working in the area. While it can be a bit obnoxious when the groups of young volunteers take-over the place on some weekends, it is still worth it to experience this... More

I stayed in hired tent on top of the hill which was very comfortable. Staff provide good service and advice about activities in Zomba. (Tip: hire bicycles and cycle down the plateau, it is incredible!) The communal area is spacious which attract some local people, who were always a pleasure to converse with. Staff are extremely welcoming and provide good... More

Upon arrival we were surprised by this place. the garden, the room and the menu in the restaurant all looked very good. They also provide free wifi which is not so common for hotels in Malawi. Staff were very friendly as well. Unfortunately there are also some things we didnt like about this place. First of all we had some... More

It's a nice and chilled place. People are friendly, things are priced nicely and the food is good. One things is that they're is that there is only one shower to use when you not staying in a dorm. There was an other shower in one of the dorm rooms or maybe both I was told but it's a bit... More

Three of us camped at Pakachere over a weekend - two used the tent they provide and one a personal tent, which was all fine. Not luxury, but nothing to complain about. The front desk staff seemed a bit confused and had no sense of urgency in helping to get things moving when we had a "6 hour" trip planned... More

I stayed together with my 13 year old daughter Roos for 13 days at Paka. We enjoyed all minutes we stayed at Paka and in Zomba region. Very friendly staff, great food (even when the electricity dropped out). Clean room with shower and toilet. But they also offer enough possibilities to have a cheaper stay, like dorm or tents. On... We stayed in Pakachere's a few weekends whilst we were working in Malosa (30 minutes south of Zomba). It is a very comfortable hostel that offers camping, dorms and private rooms. The beds are comfortable and the nets are of good quality. The food and drink are reasonably priced and the staff are all welcoming and friendly. Above all, the... More

When we initially arrived at the hostel we were quite disappointed. It's quite quiet and not as nice as some other hostels we had stayed at in Malawi. We also found that the mosquito nets in the dorms had huge holes in them. The staff came and taped the holes up but you still felt that they weren't hugely going... More

Very warm welcome. Great rooms that are clean and welcoming. Good food and a great bar to meet other travellers. Well located near the Zomba Plateau and only an hour from Blantyre. Felt very secure during our stay and the management could not do enough to help. Open fires and games of Bauo each evening.
