The location of this lodge could not be better. The Boma walk up Mt Mulanje is within easy reach, and the lodge is surrounded by majestic trees, also offering a spectacular view. The lodge is very clean and comfortable, with outstanding helpful service. The food is simple, fresh, delicious and very good value. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, simple and... More

Just stayed at this lodge during a volunteer trip. Our team spent 5 nights and it was lovely. The manager and staff were outstanding. We were greated on arrival and our bags promptly delivered to our rooms. Laundry charges were very reasonable with quick turnaround service. Food was good with options for buffet or menu. Rooms were spacious with ensuite... More

Visited as part of a day trip to Mulanje from Blantyre. Had a good walk round the grounds and then a tour from the owner who was very friendly and hospitable. Accommodation looked good valuec. The views are spectacular and the air is cool and fresh. Dinner was good although a little limited in choice. They set up a table... More

Stunning location and friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were clean and have fans and mozzy nets and all the plumbing worked but no bedside reading lights. Good service and good food in the restaurant. (Though lampshades might be more flattering to the diners!) We hadn't compared prices and similar accommodation in the area but we would would happily return.

It's been my third time to stay at Kara O'Mula, this time for one week. The service is just great and the staff very friendly and helpful. They get quite familiar and still keep the right distance. When we mentioned holes in the mosquito net, we were easily given another room. The meals are delicious, the breakfast is adequate. Whoever... More

Stayed there for the second time already and loved it both times. The location is unbeatable, breathtaking views and sunsets, quiet and peaceful. Staff is outstandingly friendly and attentive. Rooms are rough but suitable. Breakfast is good, the dinner menu is Malwian, offers good food at good prices. I am definitely coming back!

The mountainside that the hotel is located on is gorgeous and the views are also very nice. I also thought the breakfast was good and I enjoyed the TV lounge room with a fire going in it. On the other hand, for the price (which is in the mid-range) I thought that the room could have been better. The television... More

We stayed one night at the Lodge in the main building. The beds were very comfortable and the showers were hot (after letting the water run a few minutes). It was very clean. The location can't be beat - at the base of the mountain with lush gardens and views of the tea fields. Considering what is normally available in... More

A wonderful location, on the side of Mulanje Mountain. The monkeys playing in the treetops above the lodge are just breathtaking. The sunsets and sunrises are spectacular. A quiet location with great food and wonderful service from a staff, who could not be more attentive. The rooms are clean and tidy with towels replaced daily. If you are looking for... More

Kara o Mula provided us with the warmest of welcomes throughout our stay. Not once did I ever feel unsafe or that anything was too much bother for any of the staff. They did what many "5 star" hotels fail to do - place their guest's needs above all else and have lots of fun along the way! I can... More
