I can't say enough about the Chez Maggie--our chalet was beautiful and very clean, the staff was friendly and attentive, the restaurant was delicious, and the location was unbeatable! We enjoyed a few days at the Chez Maggie in August, 2015, and found it to be a great home base for seeing the west coast of Madagascar! We enjoyed easy... More

This is an amazingly friendly hotel. I came with a friend for a few days to explore Morondava (including baobabs, Kirindy, the zebu market and a river tour to a local fishing village). We stayed in chalet number 2, which picks up the restaurant wifi from its upstairs loft. The chalet was impeccably clean (and had good mosquito nets, although... More

Stayed here for 2 nights during my Madagascar trip in July 2015. Stayed at Chalet 2 which was a 2 storey house. Room was reasonably clean. Had air-conditioning in the room, which is rare for hotels outside Tana. Very close to the beach which is a plus point. Had a dinner and 2 breakfasts there and food was nice. Staffs... More

Our guided tour through the center of Madgascar was perfectly planned and flawlessly executed. Gary and Boholy Lemmer run Chez Maggie and the Remote Rivers Tours. Gary has assembled a quality team of drivers, tour guides, and other trusted helpers to take you down a river to camp out and eat under the stars, take you to the rapidly shrinking... More

This hotel was the highlight of our trip, for several reasons. First, the proximity to the beach and to a town that was safe to walk around in alone. Second, Air conditioned and well maintained rooms. Third, the great owners, Gary and Baholy, who went out of their way to make us welcome and to help us plan additional adventures.

Stayed here a year ago and also used its service for travelling to see the Avenue of Baobabs and Tsingy de Bemaraha. I stayed here twice - when I arrived Morondava, and when I came back from Tsingy. General: It is by the beach. Just step out of the hotel area, and it is already the beach. The beach is... More

After several weeks of non-stop rainforest and tsingy exploration and 3 days camping on the Tsiribihina River, decompressing at Chez Maggie for a couple of days was absolutely delightful. The hotel is beautifully situated right off the beach overlooking the Mozambique Channel, with lovely fishing outriggers lined up along the shore. The collection of cylindrical thatched buildings are very nicely... More

We slept in a beach hut. The room was very small, we could not fit our bags into it (not if we wanted to reach the bed) and had to put some in the bathroom. The bathroom smelled like urine, was relatively clean though. The front window kept opening in the middle of the night, with an unpleasant breeze blowing... More

The room was not very clean. The sleeping arrangement is ridiculous with the double bed crammed into a low ceilinged loft. The food is not good. The staff seem to be untrained. The service is extremely slow and although only a couple of people in the dining room we only received our meal about 2 hours after ordering. We mentioned... More

Stayed here for 2 nights before and after a tsingy trip. The beach bungalows are nice, set in a lovely garden with ample relaxation areas and a pool. The bar/restaurant is nice, food was good, especially the seafood (prawns were massive!). Free wifi worked well but it in the bar. Located on the beach but the fenced beach area was... More
