There are quite a few Km on bumpy tracks to get there but it’s a nice place to spend one night. It is necessary to make sure that there are rooms or bungalows available because it is often overcrowded. The gardens surrounding the main hotel are really beautiful, the bungalows above the lake are very large and comfortable, the basic... More

We came from hell after the nightmare train trip FCE and had the impression to arrive in paradise at Lac Hôtel! The bungalow was very comfy with a bottle of water in it. The food at dinner and breakfast (good omelet again!) was of quality. But the most notable attraction there is the garden and the lake of course! We... More

Only stayed one night in this hotel, thank goodness. The rooms in the main hotel may have been very nice but we stayed in the annexe even further down the track by the side of the lake. Our room was about the size of an average garage with a poor bathroom. The lake was either dried up or silted up.... More

We didn't know what to expect here and as the road is not good for the last 2kms were unconvinced that it would be worth the journey so were pleasantly surprised to find this eccentric place which has obviously been built with a lot of heart. Although it was raining our kids were entertained by the pedallos and canoes, table... More

The location is amazing, as the name says, at a beautiful lake and the houses are on the lake. The bed is huge (king size!) and ultra comfy. Unfortunately we only stayed there for 1 night and left the next morning early to leave with the train (MUST DO!) to Manakara. The train station is directly on the other side... More

A very quiet and beautiful place! It is hard to get there since the road is a nightmare, but if you take the train you will be "delivered" right in front of the hotel. The food is very good, the rooms beautiful and romantic. We stayed in June (cold season) but felt absolutely fine in this cosy small houses!

We had one of the large, lovely and bright Chalets on stilts at the edge of the lake. It is wonderfully scenic! We dined out side in the lovely gardens and the food was very good. This hotel is about 20 km outside of Fianarantsoa and the road is terrible but we traveled there by train (the unique Micheline) which... More

The rooms to this hotel are of chalet type, many are situated on stilts in a lagoon. Inside they are very dark with very poor lighting, this isn't helped by the large amount of dark wood that is used everywhere. There are other rooms on land but the ones we saw were very small and pokey. The shower in our... More

First of all - mind it's not a hotel located in the centre of Fianarantsoa, but honestly I would rather take it as an advantage. Le Lac Hotel, as the name indicates is close to the lake about 20 km by dirt, bumpy road from the city. Bungalows look better from outside than inside, even these on stills are rather... More

The way to the hotel is a nightmare. The standard bungalows where we stayed in the first night are 1star and that's it, the lake bungalows approach 3* and are much more pleasat. On a tour it is not worth lossing the time to reach it if you have to stay in the standard bungalows.
