We spent three nights at Larsen's Tented Camp in January and loved it! We had a lovely tent just above the river where we could watch elephants, giraffes, baboons, and more meandering up and down the river. The beds were comfortable, plenty of hot water, electricity, great food. The wildlife sightings were amazing. Highly recommend!

Open but secure as is possible site close to the river and the third of this type of Lodge we have stayed at in this area. You always get a great reception and the staff were all very sincere, friendly and engaging throughout our stay. Accommodation was in a large raised tent area with all mod cons next to the... More

An authentic safari tented camp. Lovely, large luxe tented accommodations facing the river, a fabulously comfortable bed, amazing service by delightful and caring people and truly great food. Plenty of free entertainment by the many monkeys and other animals nearby. Great experience all the way around.

We stayed at Larsen's as part of a custom itinerary through Kenya and it was one of the best experiences we've had. The "tents" were spacious, beautifully fitted out with timber furniture. The bathrooms are fixed ie stone walls with granite decor. Location is superb on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River although when we went the river was... More

During our September 2014 visit to Kenya, we stayed at four locales, and this won my "best of the best" vote. Larsens Camp is in a beautiful locale on the "brown river" in Samburu. Tents were beautifully appointed, service excellent, food delicious and staff warm, personable and professional. We loved the velvet monkeys and beautiful birds that were so plentiful... More

Larsen's Camp is a green oasis in Samburu. The river, green grass, and trees are all very inviting in comparison to the natural arid scrub of Samburu. It is a beautiful venue. Unfortunately when we were there, very few others were there, making it feel abandoned and isolated. In fact, one night, we were the only couple staying there. The... More

I stayed at Larsen's Camp in early September and unfortunately became very ill with diarrhoea while there. Another guest was also ill on the day we departed. The spot on the Uaso Nyiro is fabulous, but the outdoor areas were not utilized during my stay....what a pity as everything was lush and green under the trees. The game viewing, courtesy... More

Larsen's Camp was better than expected. The photos on their web site do not do justice to this camp. Our tent was close to the river it was a beautiful view from our porch. Our game drives were fantastic, so many animals. This stop on our safari trip made me feel that I was in the bush in Africa. It... More

This tented camp is luxurious and the staff is very accommodating. Having been to several tented camps, however, I was disappointed in that the dining area was indoors despite the fact that the property runs along a river with vacant areas that would make for spectacular sites for a lounge, dining areas, or a bar.

This is the best camp in Samburu - the wonderful staff, food and the best aspect on the river - we spent 10 days at Christmas and are going back again this Christmas - can't wait. The staff are some of the best we have found in Kenya and we have been going for 28 years - wonderful family!!
