During our September 2014 visit to Kenya, we stayed at four locales, and this won my "best of the best" vote. Larsens Camp is in a beautiful locale on the "brown river" in Samburu. Tents were beautifully appointed, service excellent, food delicious and staff warm, personable and professional. We loved the velvet monkeys and beautiful birds that were so plentiful... More

Larsen's Camp is a green oasis in Samburu. The river, green grass, and trees are all very inviting in comparison to the natural arid scrub of Samburu. It is a beautiful venue. Unfortunately when we were there, very few others were there, making it feel abandoned and isolated. In fact, one night, we were the only couple staying there. The... More

I stayed at Larsen's Camp in early September and unfortunately became very ill with diarrhoea while there. Another guest was also ill on the day we departed. The spot on the Uaso Nyiro is fabulous, but the outdoor areas were not utilized during my stay....what a pity as everything was lush and green under the trees. The game viewing, courtesy... More

Larsen's Camp was better than expected. The photos on their web site do not do justice to this camp. Our tent was close to the river it was a beautiful view from our porch. Our game drives were fantastic, so many animals. This stop on our safari trip made me feel that I was in the bush in Africa. It... More

This tented camp is luxurious and the staff is very accommodating. Having been to several tented camps, however, I was disappointed in that the dining area was indoors despite the fact that the property runs along a river with vacant areas that would make for spectacular sites for a lounge, dining areas, or a bar.

This is the best camp in Samburu - the wonderful staff, food and the best aspect on the river - we spent 10 days at Christmas and are going back again this Christmas - can't wait. The staff are some of the best we have found in Kenya and we have been going for 28 years - wonderful family!!

This was our second camp stay in Kenya,It was also the day of our 50th anniversary, and did the camp turn it on for us.Private dinner,on platform with candles, and the wonderfull noise of many animals, and to top it off,a 50th cake, with all the staff, dancing and singing African songs for us,it brought tears to both my wife and I. This camp could... More

This was probably the best choice in our 2 weeks in Kenya/Tanzania. Samburu is utterly amazing - wildlife as it should be seen: freely roaming, plentiful & thriving. Larsens is a great camp with wonderful service, lovely tents & communal facilities. An elephant visiting around my tent in the night was an exhilarating extra! We were there with Rhino Tours... More

This camp is a little larger than ones we normally go to (max people 30ish). Great experience with good food good game viewing attentive staff and always something going on nearby. The only obvious difference to other smaller camps we visited was less interaction with the guide. He knew his stuff; found the right animals and birds, but his personality... More

We immensely enjoyed our 3-night stay at this lovely tent camp located within a canopy of large, shade trees along a wild and muddy river. Our tent was large and comfortable, with a spacious bathroom and nice porch for sitting and relaxation in the mornings and evenings before and after our safaris. Coffee was brought to the tent in the... More
