Imagine chilling out in the afternoon under a huge thatched roof with a cold drink while watching gentle waves breaking onto a white sandy beach no more than 30 yards away. Imagine that the tropical heat sometimes can be a little ennervating but a dip in the warm clear water of the Indian Ocean is all you need. Imagine all... More

Once again, had another superb holiday and love the new pool!! The weather is amazing at this time of the year - if you don't like it too hot. The bar's looking awesome and Holly is doing an amazing job adding her artistic touch to everywhere, including the gardens. Roger, as usual, the most charming host!!

Just returned home from our Kenya holidays and thankfully we chose Driftwood as our beach location and during the 6 nights we were there we all had a fantastic time. We were of course off season but that did not dampen the great time we had. Tourists numbers are down because of the recent troubles but we had no issue... More

I can barely express how amazing this hidden gem in Malindi is. Everyone who works there has a wonderfully happy smile and are utterly charming, always! The food is delicious and the bar a blissful place to wind down after a day in the bustle of Malindi or on the white sandy beach, or indeed alongside the swimming pool. We... More

We returned home yesterday from Driftwood Beach Club and had a great time. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious, the rooms, although basic have absolutely everything you need. The overall hotel facilities are very good...they even have air-conditioned guest loos!! We had lunch every day in various different restaurants in Malindi and Watamu and honestly felt that the... Just completed a week long medical mission in Malindi, where our group of 18 stayed at the Driftwood. Cannot compliment the staff enough for making our time there pleasant. Open air dining and bar area were wonderful ways to relax in the evening. WiFi allowed us to stay in touch with families at home. Rooms clean and comfortable, food and... More

You will not find a better place in Malindi to enjoy excellent food with good wine and splendid views of the Indian Ocean. Also excellent value, try it, you will not be disappointed. Usually populated by a few of the ex colonial types but they can be tolerated.

Beyond the perfect location, we experienced that the staff was very friendly and helpful. The Hotel is no too big, it´s easy to feel welcome and find a quiet corner to relax! The rooms are fairly basic but spatial, and right on the beach. The restaurant serve a good variety of food, all i all a very nice little Hotel... More

Firstly, It must be said that the setting is really fantastic. Right on the beach, with a lovely pool that allows for an unobstructed view of the brilliant Kenyan ocean when in it. The staff are remarkably friendly and the other guests were equally accommodating. I ate there a number of times and each time the food was very decent... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Suitable for families, couples or groups. Everyone will enjoy The Driftwood for its barefoot, relaxed, ‘family home’ style. We also host a large number of wedding ceremonies. The Kenyan coast is a lush diversity of various environments. The marine life in the parks is absolutely stunning and only getting better and better since the law was implemented to protect from over-fishing. The edges of the beach are lined with palm trees that sway gently in the wind. Further inland there are the lush tropical forests that house hundreds of species of bird life and animal life. The most famous of these is the Sokoke forest which is half an hours’ drive from The Driftwood. ... more   less
