My only night at Lawford's was by accident or adventure, after I was detained by the Malindi Police under suspicion of carrying drugs. (I carry a homeopathic travel kit and also multi-vitamins.) Perhaps they were jumpy due to the war with Somalia, or perhaps they just wanted a bribe. Suffice it to say, that when I was released after being... More

one of the finest hotels located on the coastal side, superb accommodation, mouth watering meals, and so close to the tourist market and business district area! the friendliness of the entire staff will definitely make you feel right at home .

The beach is covered with garbage, the buildings are falling down, a bottle of wine is several dollars more than the very same bottle at the hotel next door, the air conditioning gets turned off at midnight, and the toilets don't flush. The first few hours of our stay were wasted waiting for various repairmen to come fix everything in... More

At the gates we were informed very rudely that the hotel was not for people of my colour, how is it even right to get discriminated in my own country & I am positive that the watchmen would not say that if they had not been authorized to do so

After reading some of the negative feedback here, I'm wondering what these people want. This hotel was very nice, huge garden, two big pools, rooms were very nice as well with everything what you needed. Only air con was playing, but when you told them at the reception, it was repaired in short time. The restaurant was beautiful. I love... More

I stayed at the hotel during the Malindi Rally and the hospitality and welcome from staff and the General Manager in particular was refreshing. The general manager Mr. Mungai ensured that all our team were well taken care of and when we asked for a late checkout as our flight was mid afternoon, he had no problem extending it! Small... More

Located right at the center of Malindi, near the store with fixed prices. Excellent cuisine, great selection of different dishes, 1x a week (Thursday) - African night. African food and Maasai dance. Very helpful staff, the guest is 'God'. Dinner by candlelight. Beautiful garden in which are two swimming pools with bars leads directly to the beach. As a bonus... More

The location is perfect, as you are very close to the city but still on the beach. Modern design of the rooms, suit is big enough with comfortable furniture. Territory is clean and big pool is good. Not really fancy place for kids, but very pleasant for the couple . The buffet is correct with seafood and grilled fish every... More

Firstly, the restaurant: only one available and just buffets. After a week of safaris and buffets, you yearn for a nice a la carte menu. And the buffet isn't even great. They also have a system where they put a number on the table and you are supposed to sit where your room number is placed. After 2 days of... More

We loved this resort. It is right on the beach and has a very attentive staff. The grounds are beautiful, and the food is delicious! We wish we could have stayed there longer instead of being stuck in Watamu for a week before we discovered Lawford's.
