Remote it is , bumpy and winding the path surely is , is it worth the ride ---- you betcha. !! Great Tents with the most amazing view of Kilimanjaro , a pool from which you can see a variety of animals , dining alfresco , just chilling , what is not to love. During dinner the " resident ",... In a country whose safari industry is notorious for not sharing the spoils of tourism with local communities (called “leakage”), Satao Elerai Community Lodge, located on Maasai lands adjacent to Amboseli National Park, stands out as a shining example of how things should be – and need to be – done. For me the stand-out point of the lodge –... More

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The camp is beautiful and the service and staff were amazing. Drinking my early morning tea on the decking with Kilimanjaro out in all her glory made my day. Sundowners in the conservancy was an experience not to be missed. Will certainly be back.

My friends and I visited this camp over the Christmas and New Year period. It was an amazing experience. The camp had something else about it that we hadn't experienced elsewhere in Kenya. It is located on its own conservancy which was as good if not better than the park itself, with a beautiful sundowner spot. The views from the... More

We spent 2 nights at the Satao Elerai and unfortunately the lasting memory of our stay was a bad bought of food poisoning. It happened after we had been there a day and a half and we both came down with it within a couple of hours of each other so there is little doubt that one of the meals... More

Thank you for your review of Satao Elerai. I was most concerned to hear that you were sick during your time with us and that it was put down to food poisoning, possibly from the Picnic lunch. This is the first such complaint we have ever had at the camp and we take your comment very seriously. I have been... More

We stayed here for one night in October whilst on our safari, I wish we had stayed longer. The camp is amazing, our tented accommodation was perfect and the view of Mt Kilimanjaro from our tent was breathtaking. We loved the dining room and had an excellent dinner and breakfast, whilst enjoying the beautiful view from our table. Unfortunately we... More

The lodge is managed by wonderful people and is located in the middle of a conservancy with elephants, giraffes, zebras and lions .... they are nice and very customer oriented .. The view of Kili is breathless .. specially in the morning .. The camp has no fences and if you... More

This camp is wonderful - location with Mt Kilimanjaro in front, large spacious tent, amazing pool, gorgeous resturant and bar area, short distance from Amboseli National Park, warm friendly staff, lovely food and the amazing spotted Janet cat that visited our table at dinner! My husband and I were the only two guests on the night we stayed which was... More

We recently stayed at Satao Elerai on the recommendation of friends and we were not disappointed. The views are breathtaking, the tents are spacious and well appointed and the service is attentive and friendly. As residents we considered a self drive to keep costs down but were glad that we opted for the ground package instead which was worth the... More

We got into the Satao Elerai camp in the late afternoon and were disappointed that Mt Kilimanjaro was hidden behind clouds. In the morning, I unzipped our tent to reveal a magnificent view of the mountain fully exposed directly in front of our room! We had a great rest in our comfortable bed, a hot shower and great breakfast to... More
