Pros: - Rooms are clean but not as 5 star. - Breakfast is huge and great. Has outdoor terrace as well. - Staff is friendly. - Reception area is nice looking due to hotel round-around architecture. - Nice mountains view from some rooms. - Fitness area is 5-star: two separate gyms (cardio and heavyweights), beautiful indoor swimming pool (29 degrees... The area surrounding the hotel is not particularly exciting, while the general noise level was good. The whole inner hotel structure reminds many other "roundish" ones worldwide, is not very pleasant and some areas are a little dark. The room was confortable with a nice view, even if not very spacious. The staff was kind and efficient, but only some... More

I stayed here a week ago. I must say that this hotel is good it not 5 stars in my opinion. The property is huge and well kept, it's lobby and atrium are impressive and well kept. It's breakfast selection is varied and delicious. The hotel staff are polite and helpful. However, this hotel needs a major renovation badly. All... More

Just spent 5 nights in Rahat palace for a business meeting. Overall this is an excellent choice for Almaty. The hotel feels very solid, with friendly staff that is always ready to help guests. The design - all rooms face a large inner courtyard with a lovely small waterfall, is structured after a traditional Yurt. Rooms and bathrooms are large,... More

A good combination of the price and quality + a lot of space in this hotel and incredible lobby. There is a nice gym and a sauna, "tasty breakfast". The hotel has a good location. The taxi is better to take on the street (each driver tries to earn money) and it is much less than to call from the... More

Nothing about this hotel deserves 5 stars except for the stunning atrium. Once you get inside your room you will find threadbare carpet, stains on walls, broken hairdryer, awful finishes that haven't been updated in at least 20 years. The gym has old equipment that doesn't work and towels that are so thin you can see through them. The pool... More

This was a great hotel when it was a Hyatt. Now it is independent and showing its age. The rooms are old, the carpets beginning to fade. Breakfast is OK, not great. The gym is good and the pool is fabulous. Service is OK, but not quite what you would expect for the price. I will be trying some of... More

I still love it - but more so when it was the Hyatt Regency :-( It may be faded but lets say faded grandeur. The Atrium ( and the Yurts there) are to die for... breakfast - somewhat russian but still good! Too many american pilots staying there though..

This is a five star hotel but is not five star quality. The hotel is actually an old Hyatt Hotel that Hyatt sold. I can understand why. This hotel is in desperate need of renovation. Ripped, stained and threadbare carpets all around, wallpaper stained, old TV etc. Restaurant: Burger from the bar tasted like an old mule, salad was good... More

This is a clean professionally run hotel. However, the rooms look old and do not befit a five star hotel. Good news: heard rumors that they will soon be closing down for massive renovation. Breakfast was very reasonable with just bearable coffee.
