This is a reveiw for the Shera Inn just across the road of the Shera. Never again. Rooms are smelling moldy. Shower caused over-flooding of the bathroom, water went under the carpeting where mold is developing. Toilet was loose. The carpeting needs a thorough cleaning, it is simply dirty. No tissue box and there is no light switch at the... More

The big positive at the Shera is the willingness of the staff to be as helpful as they can possibly be. Nice touches include a big dish of fruit on arrival, and the minibus driver with a great sense of humour. The rooms are quite small and functional, hot water and toiletries were plentiful. Needs more attention to maintenance -... More

There are better hotels in Almaty. The Hyatt, The Intercontinental for instance. But this is a locals' place. A bit of a con job on "Sheraton", including the logo, in the true spirit of Asia :). Asia believes that the term "copyright" means the "right to copy". And the Shera is definitely in that camp. The rooms are tiny, beds... More

There are 2 Sheras located nearby – Shera Hotel and Shera Inn, both are located on the same street opposite each other. This review is for Shera Hotel. The location is pretty close to the town centre – a 15min walk downhill will get you to a shopping mall with shops and food court. The anchor tenant is RamStore, a... More

Quality hotels in Almaty are pretty expensive, so the best aspect about the Shera probably is that it offers value for money. Also, the cleanliness is pretty okay, I've seen much worse in Kazakhstan. Other than that, the hotel is average in every aspect. What is true is that there are dogs barking around the hotel all night. While that... More

the hotel staff is great, but the hotel itself is rather expensive... like the whole almaty. do not expect to get for your money the travel you may be used in US or EU. the internet is horribly slow and you won't be able to send your emails using outlook or other email clients because of unproperly administered proxyserver they... My wife and I had an awful experience at this hotel. Rooms were clean but showers were cold. Air conditioning did not work. Only received one towel a day. The neighborhood dogs were barking all night. And at check-out, they gave us a bill for over US $1000.00 for 3 day Internet access. The fine print of the contract at... More

A group of us stayed at the Shera for 3 nights when in Almaty for the Kazakhstan v England football match. There are not too many hotel options in Almaty, most are either top end of the Mmarkey (Intercontinental/Hyatt) or the lower end (Hotel Kazakhstan/Kazhol) but the Shera provides a great option somewhere in the middle. We were treated fantasically... More
