I stayed 2 days, 18-20 August, Although I had a pre-paid accomodation voucher, they did not let me in without pay money and waited me 6.5 hours in the reception. The staff who is standing behind the reception desk talked with me as I told a lie. After 6,5 they accept their fault and let me do the check in,... More

The hotel is located inside a Soviet-style block of apartment buildings and it is not visible to the street. The location makes the rooms peaceful because they are not facing the street. The service in this hotel was friendly and the room was clean and bathroom was tidy. The free wifi works fast and breakfast was OK. Free drinking water... More

Kazzhol is a descent place to stay in Almaty. Rooms are spacious, clean & neat (prefer rooms in new building). Staff is helpful & most of them speak english. Breakfast is standard ( but not much variation if you going to stay for more than 3 days). In all, its worth a place to stay. Tip. - carry local currency... More

This hotel was pretty middle of the road. Not terrible, but not great either. In Almaty terms, I think it's reasonable value for money. On the plus side, it has a nice swimming pool (even if there are swimming lessons that take up half of it some evenings) and it is very centrally located, with plenty of restaurants in walking... Having read a number of reviews I was beginning to wonder what experience I may have especially as a first time visitor to Kazakhstan. Overall I have a good experience with this hotel. The staff are friendly and my room was very clean and comfortable. It was not ultra-modern and the view out of the window was of ram shackled... More

Was booked into this hotel in May 2014 (as part of a group tour) on 3 different occasions (and stayed in 3 different rooms). All rooms were reasonably sized + clean and everything works with lots of power points/usb chargers etc. Reception and restaurant staff speak English. Has a restaurant in the basement - food was good. Hallways were very... More

I stayed at Kazzhol for three nights in November. The rooms were very large and clean. The staff were helpful and some spoke very good English. The choice at breakfast was very varied and was of a good standard. The location was good and within walking distance of most shops.

I'm staying here often, but it isn't place I love to stay in Almaty. Rooms are small. One time I was witness of the hassle there opposite my room and I dislike it. Flighted people was drunk. Prostitutes are welcomed there and hotel security guards can help to u with this service. I dislike this. But hotel placed in the... More

i am an experienced world traveler of mature years, picky on hotels (but not overly so), who does much advance research on my travels, including the accommodations, and therefore is rarely really disappointed in them. i have stayed here twice before and it is the best bet in almaty for location - walking distance to cathedral and upmarket northeast section... There are specific things about soviet type of set up and service that you see in this hotel. This is not necessarily a negative thing, it just speaks about the way the hotel sees itself. It is clean, staff attitude varies. Speaking Russian or Kazakh helps. Breakfast and WiFi included.
