This hotel locates opposite green bazaar, which is a must see for tourists in Almaty. It is close to tourist attractions in Almaty. When I arrived, staffs there could not speak english, but they were helpful when I asked for something. The room I had was ok. I had a very good view of green bazaar and Tian Shan Mountains.... The hotel is just opposite to the Green Market. Rooms are a bit small but clean and tidy. WIFI is available at a reasonable rate. Plenty of budget restaurants around and a supermarket is just round the corner. The surrounding is a bit messy with hawkers but I felt quite safe. No problem with the AC and hot showwer. Breakfast... For a city known for its ridiculously overpriced hotels, this is a real find! For about $40 for a double room it is reasonably clean, and has the basics of what you need. It is not badly located for some shops (not too many restaurants close by though) and is on the right side of the city for a quick... More

This hotel can be the cheapest in Almaty while remaining in the center. So it is very good value for rmoney. In terms of service, it depends on your luck. I met three receptionists : one does not speak English; one is not patient and I felt I was begging her everytime; while the other one is very helpful. No... More

- Very well priced compared to other hotels. You get what you pay for, simple and small. - Central location. 10 minute walk to metro station. green bazaar across the road. Rakhat chocolate factory, Panfilov Park, KFC 5 minutes. - No breakfast - Receptionists didn't speak English (we used google translate and they helped us order taxis etc) - Large... More

Hotel Turkestan is located close to the Green Bazaar and has a good walking distance to the city center. The rooms are basic, clean but could use some facelifting. For a budget-conscious traveller used to hostels and cheap guest houses, this place works just fine. The double room was 6500t per night and worked perfectly for a few days in... More

We booked a double room with attached bath for 6500t/night on booking.com. There are no signs outside that indicate it is Turkstan hotel, except for the address. 49 is posted to the left of the door and atm. We walked past it initially, but then walked back and found it knowing it was across from the market. The lady at... More

Occupied several single rooms on the fifth floor in July and August 2012. Location is perfect next to the Green bazar and on walking distance from the bus station. Compared to other hotel in this quite expensive city this is a real bargain. Book before. The Soviet system still applies, although most of the staff is helpful (when you smile,... More

Best for budget traveller in Almaty of three tried. Newly renovated, clean and secure with excellent service, especially from Kamila who has very good English. 24 hour access with generous late check-out; lift to all floors. And at T3000, the cheapest by T1000. But typical of Kazakh hostels/hotels, receipts are not issued until departure. Paying by the day as I... More
