We stayed at Hakkoda Hotel for 4 nights on a 10 night ski adventure to the region in January 2014. Hakkoda did not disappoint! We caught a bus from JR Aomori Station to the hotel which dropped us off at the Ropeway at Hakkoda. It took us a little to find where the hotel was located and we had to... More

We stayed at Hakkoda in January this year for 3 nights. We travelled from tokyo on the new hayabusa train to aomori. We opted to take a taxi from the station to the hotel as we were traveling with a toddler and not quite sure if the bus were running, as it was snowing heavily. It was quite a long... More

Wow - powderhounds said that this was powder country and they weren't wrong. The backcountry riding was fantastic. The weather was abysmal (apart from one day) but then that is the usual in the powder bowls of Japan. The hotel was this quaint little Japanese lodge with a full breakfast and traditional Japanese dinner. Every meal was an adventure. As... More

Perhaps one of the most relaxing places I have been for a very long time. A great breakfast, unbelievable backcountry powder skiing, a relaxing onsen and a superb Japanese evening meal. My day every day for six days. Can't recommend it highly enough. Skiing and food perhaps not for the faint hearted.

A very nice hotel - great food and service. We rode the new "Hayabusa" Shinkansen from Tokyo to Aomori - what a train!! It takes a bit of a bus ride from Shin-Aomori station (about an hour - after all, it's in the mountains!), but they have shuttle service to and from the main station (Aomori - a short distance... I can't begin to describe what a wonderful experience I had at this hotel. To begin with, the trip to the hotel's location is a little harrowing, as you have to take a bus through lots and lots of mountains, and I had some concern that getting back to Aomori in time to catch my train the next day might... It is the beautiful hotel surrounded by nature. One rose was decorated in the room, and it made me glad. The hotel car picks up guests to nearby Sukayu Hot Spring. The jam made in the hotel was very delicious. The dog feed in the hotel is very large and lovery.
