This hotel was the perfect choice for a few nights in Akita. The room was as expected in terms of size so we weren't surprised. In fact, it was a little bigger than we anticipated. The room was clean, the staff was friendly, the location couldn't be beat, and the breakfast was good. It was easy to get around from... More

We enjoyed this hotel. It is about 10min walk from the station and it's very smart for the price. The customer service was excellent. You get offered cosmetics for adults and toys for children when checking in which kept our kids happy. The only funky thing is the payment. After checking in you have to pay at a vending machine... This hotel chain is amazing and has great attention to detail. For example there are lights outside your door when you put the key card into the holder that lights up so room service knows when you are in the room in the morning and not disturb you. The mirror in the bathroom are heated so it doesn't get fogged... More

My first time in a "true" Japanese style/size Hotel. At first the room size seemed a bit small. HOWEVER, it did not feel that way staying in the room. Everything was perfectly arranged and very functional. kudo's to the designers, I never felt crammped and was very pleased how comfortable and luxurious my stay was. The price was also a... More

Nice and clean hotel from a short walking distance from the train station. You can choose not to have all your beddings etc. change every day. It's nice to have this environmentally friendly option and that they gave free water bottles for that. Staff was really friendly and spoke relatively good english. We asked for an okonomiyaki-restaurant nearby and they... More

Stayed for three nights on business. This was one of the hotels recommended by my business partner and as the name 'Ekimae' (in front of the station) had attracted me because I was going to arrive in Akita late at night. It took about 10 minutes from the station with my suitcase and was not easy to find the way.... More

Convenient location, easily walkable from JR Akita Station. Also walkable to Kawabata District across the river with many restaurants and bars. The room was relatively spacious, and modern and comfortable. I did not hear neighbors. A couple of odd things - two of my friends who traveled with me was given a key to a room with a guest. I... Within walking distance of Akita train station. New and clean. Staff very courteous. Japanese business (not tourist) hotel, so some signs are in Japanese but not English. Breakfast in hotel restaurant features Japanese food, but Western food (toast, etc.) is also available. Dinner seemed to be only Japanese food. Nearby restaurant "Artichoke" has very good Italian food.

Akita city is not somewhere most tourists want to go, but if you have business in the center of town or need to be near the JR station, the Richmond is a great place to stay. It's a bit more expensive than other business hotels in the area, but you get what you pay for. The air is clean on... More

This is a clean and modern business-style hotel, conveniently located near the station. However, the front desk staff seem to be inexperienced part-timers. They were unable to answer simple questions in Japanese about finding a local hot spring bath, though this is one of the most common interests of foreigners visiting Akita. The use of machines for payment also suggests... More
