Stayed here with some friends for a few nights in May. The hostel is really nice and chill, perfect for a couple or a few friends. There are some nice beaches and restaurants nearby, though you'll need to rent a car or take a bus to get to a bigger store/wider variety of restaurants. Gon and the rest of the... More

Stayed solo, February 2015. Upgraded from dorm to upstairs room, much better. Bus there from airport 2000yen for 4 day pass. Grocery stores in the village have very little food, so go to supermarket in town by bus to stock up. Can have 500yen bento box hot lunch from tiny takeaway nearby. Took bus 15 minutes to luxury Club Med... More

Iwira Location - As Ishigaki is small, it is very easy to go anywhere so location is not a problem. The guesthouse is 5-10 minutes walk from nearest beach, and 3 minute walk from cafés/restaurants. Restaurants usually require a reservation. There are a few 'grocery shops' in Kabira bay, but they are not well stocked; so if you plan to... More

We stayed in Japan from April 1st-8th and booked every night at Iriwa. It was one of our best decision while visiting the Okinawa islands. We also were able to use this as our 'home-base' and venture out to the other islands for successful and adventure-filled day trips (i.e. Kayaking, waterfall trekking and cave dwelling on Iriomote + bike riding... Fantastic experience, Gon and Mayu are so lovely, Mayu took a bunch of us to watch the sunset from a beautiful point on the island. On arrival Gon gave an excellent introduction to the island and the Kabira area. Bikes and towels for hire, really welcoming atmosphere both from staff and other people staying there. Beach is walking distance away... More

I stayed two nights with my wife. This stay has the special meaning that she spend wonderful time here eight years ago and wants to be there again with me. I fully understand her idea, and enjoyed slow life. IRIWA provides good hospitality for everyone having open mind. Enjoy with special treasure map.

I booked through e-mail. Responses were so quick. The place was absolutely beautiful and the atmosphere was amazingly welcoming. Gon the owner is so helpful, he dropped us off at the bus stop, which was only 5 minutes walk. We were only two ladies but it felt so safe. Gon has created an environment that makes everyone feel a part... More

We mailed Iriwa guesthouse the day before coming. Gon, the owner came to pick us up at the airport and showed us around for the best spots to eat/see. Iriwa guesthouse is nicely located in Kabira. Really close to the beach. We had the private bedroom which was huge, the public area is really nice with a nice living room... More

Stayed in many hostels on our recent trip to Japan and this was by far the best. A 7 minute walk from the centre of Kabira and a very pleasant walk. Bikes are available for free if you are using them for less than half an hour. If you want to hire them for the day then it is only... More

I had a good stay at Iriwa. The owners were very helpful and flexible with my travel plans changing. Great restaurant suggestions. There is a kitchen available though you really need to go to Ishigaki City in order to do proper shopping. I felt very safe. A little hard to find when taking the bus as the sign is quite... More
