This is a difficult review to write as it seems like there are a number of variables that seemed different from other reviewers. Reader discretion is advised. First of all, there seem to be different room types on different floors. From the hotel booking website, I was under the impression that there was an ensuite toilet, but that's not the... More

My teenage daughter and I stayed here for three nights with a Japanese friend. We had a Japanese room including breakfast which can be European or Japanese and is very good. The hotel is friendly and the bath is attractive but was a little cold in the December temperatures. I think this is a good hotel at a reasonable price

The Hotel is a medium sized tradditional Japanese Style Ryokan. stayed in tradditional Japanese Mat-floor room. when I made the booking via the hotel website, it indicated that there're toilet enclosed but no bathroom. In fact, the room that I got has both toilet and shower. Private onzen is great and easy to book. stayed for two nights and use... More

I booked this ryokan with a month in advance (quite late taking into account that it was during the high season), through the ryokan's website. I wasn't sure of what was going to be provided, so I didn't expected much. From what I was informed my friend and I were going to have to share the bathroom with other people... More

We stayed only one night to do some onsen and check out Beppu. We got a large room with a private bathroom. But no provided towels! The onsen at the hotel was great. We booked a private one for our family and had a great time. There wasn't dinner or breakfast included in our booking. When we asked to have... More

We stayed in one of the traditional rooms, and although the booking said shared toilet, the room was ensuite (pleasant surprise). The staff are nice and the one private onsen that we used was good and very clean. The room was fine. My only complaint is that the windows do not block out the sound of slightly undesirable women outside... More

The staff are enthusiastic and helpful, the location is great, and the value can't be beat. The private baths were just delightful. If you stay in Beppu, do yourself a solid and stay at Nogamihonkan Ryokan!

I stayed here 3 nights in October. My room was modern style, very nice and handy. There is old and modern style rooms. Breakfast was very nice and service was good. The ryokan's have 5 different onsen's and famous sand bath is only couple minutes away. Situation is also very good. Only "bad" thing is that there is only one... More

We stayed 2 night in Sepember. The service was friendly and warm. The room was very big - we actually got 4-persons room for a couple. The onsen was clean and nice. 8 minutes walk from the bus station.
