3 minute walk from the train station and the tram line. The tram will get you to all tourist attractions in Kumamoto cheaply and swiftly. Nice hotel, good room, a bit bigger than usual in Japan, very clean. Good breakfast with Western and Japanese choices. Also close to car rental offices in case you want to explore the Mount Aso/Yufuin/Beppu... More

great hotel if your wanting clean, convenient and very friendly staff. Rooms ok by Japan stds and of course very clean. Check in was quick and efficient. Room service was prompt if a little expensive, but the food was good. Good eating adjacent to the hotel

We picked this hotel to be close to the JR station for easy access to Asosan and the Shinkansen with our heavy luggage. It is literally next to the station building. Staff were exceptionally nice and even escorted us to the room and introduced the features. Room was not that small and had a Western-style bathroom (not the 1-piece). The... More

Checking in was easy, the room was clean but small (too small for two suitcases), the bed and bathroom were good. The staff was very helpful. If you need to travel by Shinkansen the location is perfect and we even found a really good local restaurant (not in the station, but next to it in the building of another hotel).

Hotel New Otani Kumamoto is located next to Kumamoto Station. The hotel has 130 rooms and five restaurants. We checked into the hotel late afternoon. Check-in was smooth without any problems. The bedroom was rather small, typical of many modern Japanese hotels. There was hardly space for our two suitcases. The bathroom was just as cramped and there was little... More

After reading that they are located in front of the Kumamoto railway station, I booked a room here. The locals said that after Shinkansen opening, it's location does not seem the best and my business contact came to meet me at the station as they knew it is slightly confusing to get to the hotel from the Shinkansen exit. The... More

We stayed one night only and the location next to the train station was great. We also had dinner in a private room in the Chinese restaurant and to our surprise the quality, the service and the presentation of the food was very good. Anyway, not the place I would stay privately but for a business night, it does the... More

The hotel is located right outside JR Kumamoto station, which is very convenient. However, the city centre (for shopping and Kumamoto Castle), it will have to be reached by tram, the stop is outside the station as well. Is very quiet around the hotel at night, with no nightlife or much restaurants around, so we dine in the hotel for... More

My husband, my 2 year old son and myself stayed at this hotel for two nights in late October. This hotel was very comfortable. The rooms were of nice size for Japan. Two twin beds, which were generously sized. Well large enough that i could have my son sleep in bed with one of us and we weren't uncomfortable. The... More
