We chose the Dormy Inn mainly for location and price. We were surprised to find a very modern, clean hotel with better than average amenities, especially the very nice rooftop onsen. We had a corner semi-double room that but was the typical Japanese size but adequate, very clean and comfortable. We had the breakfast a couple of mornings which was... More

They let you open the windows in the room to get some fresh air. That may not sound like much, but after staying in places forcing me to breathe stuffy recycled air all night, this is amazing. Also, everything else is great. Everything is clean, new.. there's free laundry, and the onsen on the roof is great.

Stayed 1st night at Dormy Inn Kumamoto & spent 2nd & 4th night in Dormy Inn Kagoshima last week Mar 15. Arrived by tram but missed the nearest stop at Takamibaba 高見馬塲 (as assumed other passenger will alight & press the bell to stop the bus) & alighted at the next stop. It was only few min further so not... More

Thank you for choosing with us for your staying. Well, thank you for giving us your feedback this time. We are terribly sorry that you got hard time going to Chuo-station since we didn't tell you enough about our service of shuttle bus. Also about the flat and soft pillow which didn't meet your want, we now provide many kind... More

I stayed 2 nights in Dormy Inn Kagoshima in mid Feb 2015. The hotel was situated along the main road, with easy access to the tram station, a 5 mins walk away. From the door steps of the hotel to the left was the convenience store Lawson (a 5mins walk away), and the major shopping district Tenmokan was a 10... More

Expensive but not super expensive by Japanese standards. Staff do not speak any useful English and if you request anything out of the ordinary they go onto a tail spin. Don't even bother trying to ask for a plate to take to the room. You will spend 10 minutes explaining then be told "no we have no plates in the... More

Modern hotel, with small rooms (as most japanese hotels). But everything new, clean and well thought out. Very nice onsen on rooftop, and excellent breakfast with a lot of choices. Free ramen at night. We stayed for a week, and enjoyed both the hotel and the city. Kagoshima has a friendly feel to it, and has lot of beautiful spots... More

I have now stayed at several good quality budget/around 3 star hotels in Japan and this has been the best. The hotel is quiet new and modern but cozy, the room was the biggest I had in Japan and the bathroom nicer than the usual plastic box. Besides the usual facilities, this one had on top, a great onsen on... More

Great location, good wifi, the bed size was fine to me but if you are tall, maybe its just fit. Staffs were all very helpful and friendly and helped to book the nice Shabu Shabu dinner for us. Free breakfast, after dinner noodle and free shuttle were all value added. THe best is the hot spring bath, with indoor and... More

This was our first stay in a Dormy Inn (we stayed in a few during our trip) and we were really impressed. All the rooms and general facilities looked very new and everything was spotless. The shower was a proper monsoon, the mattress was extremely comfortable and the fridge, yukata, toothpaste etc all came in really handy. The location was... More

Service was good, onsen & noodles for supper was a plus.. location near the train station but have to take tram or walk a distance.. easy accessible.
