I stayed only one night. The reason I choose was there is a black sand bath in the hotel just only in Ibuski area. It was a huge resort, I can see a ocean in balcony at 7th floor. It was very nice. But, our room and corridor is too old to smell like some old furniture. It needs to... More

We went to Ibusuki for a night hoping that it would be a highlight of our Kagoshima trip, and we were quite looking forward to it to be honest. We chose this hotel because it has its own sand bath and you can do a lot in it like a resort. When we arrived we discovered the hotel is large... More

The room was somewhat sooty, but was wide enough for two persons to stay at approx 10,000JPY each including dinner and breakfast buffets. The greatest pleasure here was challenge the hot sand bath. Japan has lots of hot spring facilities, however, the hot sand bath service is confined to this area, which means a very unique onsen even for Japanese.... More

The hotel was huge! We went on an exchange programme and I got to find out that this hotel is famous for their Sand Bath. It was definitely a unique experience for me as I did not get to experience this anywhere in Singapore. The rooms that we were in were rather spacious and we got the tatami-style bedroom. Noticed... The Iwasaki Hotel is a massive set of building blocks perched on the coast. It would have been quite a sight in the early 80s when it seems to have been built, but nothing has changed since then so it is more than a little tired. Although it is clean and tidy, none of the décor or furnishings have been... More

I booked this hotel because I like sand bath. The landscape area, pool and spring area are good. I enjoy a good sun raising morning and sand bathing . However , the hotel building are too old and need renovation . Corridor and room are with some smell . Shopping arcade and facilities are outdated .

I visited that hotel a couple of weeks ago because a gay tour (Japan-G tour) was held there. Access is not that easy, since it is in the southernmost tip of Kagoshima prefecture, however transportation is provided from Kagoshima Central Station. Expect lots of stops before getting there and an exhausting 2-hour long trip, so my recommendation is that you... More

First if travelling to Ibusuki from Yahushima via the once a day hydrofoil sailing look out for the hotel bus that met the boat. It was about 7:30 at night and I was pleased to spot the bus and it's driver and asked whether they were going and we were guests... in fact the only ones on the ferry. Arrived... More

We went to Ibusuki for the sand baths and to relax in the sun by the pool. Unfortunately, we found out the pool was only open in the summer. The restaurants were extremely overpriced. The view was beautiful. The onsen was awesome! The hot sand bath was a unique experience. We believe that this could have been a day trip... More

October 2005: Myself and two friends re-visisted the Iwasaki Ibusuki Hotel in southern Kyushu Japan last October in celebration of our 25th anniversary, since the three of us were working as Polynesian dancers in the hotel back in 1979-80. Yes, this hotel had a show with real Hawaiians back then! Of course, we expected it to be different, but what... More
