Generally as a hostel, Khaosan is quite good. However, the location really isn't great, far from the station and far from the city center of Tenjin or Nakasu- those would be better choices to stay at. It also has very few showers, so you sometimes have to wait. Its otherwise clean, friendly and safe

I arrived here after riding 55 miles on my bicycle from Kitakyushu tired, sore, and mentally beat. The front desk guy greeted me warmly and checked me in without issue. The dorm room has 4 beds with lockers for each person, big enough to fit a sleeping bag, 4 pannier bags from my bicycle, and a small daypack. Each bed... More

This was my first stay at a youth hostel and was quite enjoyable. It was very active and lots of people from all walks of life and places. I only stayed here for one night but I found the accomodations to be very nice. There are places to eat nearby, very close to Hakata station, and the common room is... More

*A little note before I start, I was quite surprised by the the low rating of this hostel. First of all, this is NOT a Ritz Carlton, or a Hilton, this is a HOSTEL. Don't expect a beautiful seaside view, because this is in a narrow road of one of the main drives. So please don't complain if you get... More

Before I give my review, I want to say I am surprised at other tripadvisor members leaving not so favourable reviews. I believe when you read other people's reviews, good or bad, you have to also weigh up their comments with their expectations (if any) they had before arriving at the place. Of course, this is not always possible if... More

My wife & I stayed at the International Hostel Khaosan for 4 nights during October 2013. It is situated in a quiet location approximately 15 minutes walk from Hakata railway station. The hostel is clean with friendly & helpful staff. There is a well equipped kitchen with free tea/coffee. The spacious & comfortable sitting room has a TV & computers with... More

It's about 15 minutes from Hakata Station on foot. Everyone was very friendly, providing information and booking a brewery tour at the nearby Asahi factory for me. It's a hostel so don't expect too much but it was as good as I could have hoped; clean, well-run, and friendly.

It is 15 min walking from Hakata Station. No subway station close but a bus stop very close. Many convinience stores close. A bit hard to find without a map but it's very cheap and the environment is very good. Met many nice travelers there. Also, free Wifi and Internet service. I'd come again, totally recommended.

We stayed in this hostel for 1 night. We got a room with a bunk bed, although this was not specified on the website and we expected a double bed. Our room was next to a neon advertisement on the street outside and the curtains were very thin, so at night our room was just as light as during the... More
