Had an overnight stay at this hotel, the staffs are friendly, accommodating, and hospitable. The food in the hotel was good. It is located near the train station, so traveling anywhere from the hotel is convenient.

The hotel looks uninviting from the outside and its closeness to the station made us wary of the potential for railway noise. We were surprised to find our twin room was spacious, very clean and being on the 2nd floor, very convenient for the services on offer. The breakfast is self service - so no idea why other reviews says... More

The hotel is an average hotel close to Seta station. Breakfast is decent the wifi is available only in the lobby and 2 nd floor. The hotels is about 20 mins subway ride away from Kyoto station. Rooms are big by Japan standards. Do not stay here if you have hotel options closer to Kyoto station.

I stayed a few nights on business in Seta. It's a very good value choice if you need somewhere to sleep, is right by Seta station, and opposite the bus station. I found the rooms to be spotlessly clean and about the same size as any Japanese business hotel. There is a free breakfast buffet with a Japan-style continental breakfast... More

I booked one night at the Smile Hotel based on it's three star status on the Agoda website and its photos representing a clean and spacious looking room. When we arrived, we discovered a squalid, completely unsanitary room complete with mold on the bathroom and bedroom, stains (yep, that's right), and torn wallpaper. The hallway outside was in similarly poor... More

Expensive, and SMALL room. Breakfast is miserable amount. Location is so-so. Luckily for a 100-yen shop nearby for some good buys haha. Hotel staff is friendly enough, but the accommodation is nothing to laud about.

I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights, and it was an excellent stay. The room was small and desk has a sign of tiredness. However, the room was clean, and the hotel offers a free continental breakfast including several types of bread, salad, boiled egg, and many choices of hot/cold drinks. Also, each room has free internet access (wired),... More

Most rooms in this hotel are of a semi-double bed. When this room is sold as a single room, it is at a reasonable size, clean, with internet and so on. But when it is sold as a double room, it is VERY narrow. Breakfast is also VERY basic. There are some restaurants, convenience shops and a supermarket nearbye. The... More
