The first importation was great. The location is just next to the JR station and the reception area looks nice. But that was all... The room was like a motel with locked windows . The bathroom Was so small and basic, it was a very small cube with low ceiling that fit more a cheap motel than such a hotel.... More

The Nikko Nara was without doubt the worst hotel during our 2 week stay in Japan, tired is the word that comes to mind; small unrenovated rooms with hard beds we looked at a few rooms- all the same. And they certainly charge for it too, clearly relying on the Nikko brand name. Still it would probably have been just... More

Spent 2 nights here - in Room 935. I booked this hotel via Expedia which was much cheaper than booking directly with them. We paid about $100 per night during the height of Cherry Blossoms. It is in a great location - at the JR Nara station. Take the west exit and it is just right there. The train station... More

Hotel is so convenient with it's location right beside the train station. Nice rooms, clean and plenty of space. The bathroom is a bit small for Western standards, but it is perfectly acceptable. Pretty lobby area with plenty of space to meet up with people. Restaurants in hotel are pricey, but right at the station there are several good places... More

This is located adjacent to the JR Nara station. Unfortunately 15 minute walk from the main attractions in Nara but that seemed to be a reasonable tradeoff for the convenience. Initially we had a slight issue in that they'd put us in a smoking room when we requested non smoking but this was rectified after a quick trip to the... More

Nara is a very interesting city, and this is a good hotel for a tourist to use. It is right next to the train station, which is a big plus for those relying on the rail link. The hotel is probably in slightly worn condition, but I did find it to be clean and comfortable throughout. The rooms are not... More

I stayed there over 8 nice separately with my father for biz trip. At first we booked double room because 2 single rooms are not available, but when we arrived we asked them whether we can changed to two single rooms. And luckily there was, so they changed the room for us without any extra charge Though, it seems like... More

Hotel Nikko Nara is in an excellent position, right next to Nara's railway station, and at the end of its main shopping street that leads to many of the town's tourist attractions. Unlike comments in several other reviews, we found the service to be polite and helpful. The breakfast buffet was comprehensive and good. Room prices were reasonable (indeed our... More

This was not in the same league as other Nikko hotels in Japan, China and US. The pluses are few: the close proximity to the train station (although it makes for a 2 miles walks from most of the temples and attraction), the building itself ( a japanese castle revival) and a grand lobby. Unfortunately there were several problems: the... More

Do not book the single room (smoking). Even if you are a smoker, you will not like it. Very smelly, dark and tiny. I would rather stay at a hostel than in that room. Even the air in the lobby of this hotel does not smell fresh, which is too bad, because it otherwise looks like a nice place to... More
