There are plenty of Michelin Stars restaurants around Kansai Areas at very reasonable price if you are into gourmet food, the best way to test out the quality of those 4 ~5 stars hotel services within Kansai are simply ask them to help out with the restaurant bookings in advance before check in, on one hand I have enjoyed flawless... If you are in Nara, this is the perfect hotel for you. Perfect position, near one of the park main entrance. Beautiful, historical, old-fashioned building in an old Japanese style. Nice big room facing a part of the park, but, as many hotel in Japan, the most disappointing thing is the bath... Very good western restaurant, if you want to... More

Arrival; we arrived by train to JR Nara station (there are 2 stations). Walked to the hotel as we only had small backpacks having sent our larger one's on (a fantastic service do not carry luggage around) took about 20 minutes, easy. I picked up a map in the station. The hotel has a grand entrance, plenty of delightful smiling... More

We booked into Nara hotel for two nights at the start of a recent trip to Japan. It was incredibly comfortable and a nice quiet sanctuary away from the main town. The bathrooms are a little small and there is no onsen, so not a spa resort like may Japanese hotels are. But the staff were so friendly and helpful... More

Hotel is truly unique. Service is very welcoming and try to be accommodating. Rooms were big yet cozy and nicely decorated even in newly done rooms. We decided to stay for dinner which was not a great idea. Checked out the American one and prices were truly ridiculous. Went for the Japanese option which was also very expensive. There was... Lovely spacious well appointed tall light room in 100 year old building visited by Einstein and Audrey Hepburn - a lot of original furnishing - the buzz of cicadas in the trees were the only disturbance to the peace. Deer in the garden and ducks in the pond on a hill. Excellent gourmet Japanese meal in their Japanese restaurant in... More

Classical elegance, impeccable service, and large rooms with the amenities you need. 10 minutes walk from the city centre, across the street the entrance to the park Unable to mention any negative remarks for this hotel This for competitive room rates, one of the best, or even the best hotel in Nara And the rice cookies in the park are... We had three rooms in the new wing. The size of the rooms were unexpectently large with good beds and pillows. Hiring the electric bikes and going through the park was a highlight. The staff were very helpful and we enjoyed the colonial atmosphere. The In-house meal options were pricey so we went into town but not before pre dinner... More

The location and setting of this hotel are fantastic. Full of history and the service was impeccable. We had an old-fashioned colonial style room with high ceilings and garden views. The bathroom was very small and had a rusty radiator and toiletries from the 1970's. The beds however were very comfortable and we had a lovely stay. The locations is... More

This is a great old-fashioned hotel in a large building with the architecture that you find several buildings of in the area. The service is the best we have had during our stay in Japan. Our room was in the new wing and in Ryokan style, but they also have normal rooms. Our Ryokan was large with a large bathroom... More
