We stayed at Nara Hotel for one night B&B as part of a 9 night trip around Japan. It was our last night before heading home and we hoped the Nara would be a fitting climax to our holiday. The hotel clearly had great historical significance from the building itself to the impressive list of high profile guests who had... More

We slept over night there during our trip to Nara, was a good experience but i still expect more for the amount i paid (the service in the hotel is at the average level). - Staff was friendly and warmly welcoming. - Hotel building and rooms are very nice. - the nature, shrine and garden around give a refreshing touch.... Nara hotel is 105 years old, the construction is significant. You will be really touched while you standing in front of hotel's square. This hotel is also beloved by the Japanese Royalty. When we just shown up in the square, the hotel staffs rush out from the lobby. And assisted us to for our luggage,... More

We had a western style room with twin double beds. The room was comfortable and quiet and, consequently, sleeping was very good. Described by Lonely Planet as 'the grande dame' of Nara hotels it was more formal and conservative than the others we stayed in and whilst the staff were very good there wasn't the relaxed confidence that we found... Great location for a hotel that was built in early 1900's. The interior is a bit run down but has its own charm. We stayed in the main building, our room was huge but the bathroom was tiny and had awful smell. The only hotel which charged for fresh coffee in the room! The breakfast was in a huge dining... More

We decided to stop in Nara on the way to Tokyo to tour the local shrines, the Todaji Temple, and Daibutsuden and chose this hotel because of its location and the fact that it is a old traditional building. The hotel itself seemed a treasure, old and creaky with the feel of the turn of the century. Staff very courteous... More

Our advice: Stay in Kyoto or Osaka and day-trip to Nara We stayed at the Hotel Nara for two nights, on a six-city visit to Japan last month. The Hotel Nara was our only big mis-step on this trip. At $400 a night - which included no food, no onsen, not even a cup of coffee we could make in... More

104 years ago this hotel was built by Tatsuno Kingo,Japanese architect, 2 stories ,front door is like a japanese house. A tall ceiling, however, amaze you and receptionists welcome you friendly, guiding your a bag to your room. Luckily we got a broad delux twin room ,named Tenpyo, broad space,2 TV, spacious bath tub and a shower room on the edge of... More

This is one of Japanese traditional architecture. This hotel has a nice atmosphere. The room is wide and comfortable. The cost isn't too expensive (Tokyo, Osaka is much expensive). You can forget the daily life and probably feel the Japanese "OMOTENASHI" mind.

I stayed at the Nara Hotel for two nights and I must say that I was impressed. I had a traditional Japanese room sleeping on the floor it was more comfortable than I first thought, The wooden bath tub was inviting enough to try. The Bar tender is also first class!
