This 109 year hotel has welcomed celebrities from around the world but still welcomes regular tourists with great style and service. Wide halls, high ceilings, large windows and creaky floors. With a stop for the bus limousine at the hotel's drive, the hotel is adjacent to both the wide Nara Park and three significant temples/shrines and the narrow streets of... More

We were a family of three visiting Nara staying in a Japanese-style room for two nights (the hotel offers Japanese and Western room styles). Like many hotels of its era, the Nara Hotel draws heavily on its past and has been a favourite haunt of royalty over the years. It is clearly a favoured hotel for weddings and conferences. Unfortunately,... More

We stayed at Nara hotel for 1 night but we would have loved to stay longer. The old building is beautiful. We decided to walk from Nara station which took about 30 minutes. It was a hot day and up hill so I recommend getting a taxi or bus. The walk back the next day down hill was a lot... More

This is a beautiful hotel with an excellent location. I booked my room in the main building, which I thought meant it would be Japanese, but it wasn't a traditional Japanese room. (I think they do have a few, so ask to be sure.) Why not 5 stars? I just can't give 5 stars to a hotel that charges 250... More

This is a historic hotel and the service is outstanding (as it has been in all of Japan). The hotel itself is a little shabby though. It looks like nothing much has changed since the 1930's. I am referring to the furniture and carpets. A sofa in the hall has a big worn spot (rip). We stayed for one night... More

We recently had a wonderful stay at the Nara Hotel. The Hotel is a historical gem and has so much charm, while also providing all the amenities. The staff are extremely service oriented and hard working--always there to help with any request. We were able to use Nara Hotel as a base for travelling to Kyoto as well as seeing... More

Overall we were very impressed with our stay at the Nara Hotel. It is pricey, but that is what you pay for in an historic Japanese city, so you just live with that. The hotel is next to the deer park and close to everything. Pros – We choose the traditional Japanese room which was very nice. It is old... More

We enjoyed a beautiful night here. After booking a standard room, they upgraded us to the fabulous Imperial Suite and needless to say my family were impressed. I've stayed many places over the years on business and holidays, but this place takes first place. Thanks again.

If you like to stay where lots of celebrities stayed you are on the right place. But reserve an expensive room, if not you get a small one at a high price, a so called American breakfast (served, no buffet) which in a good hotel in Europe would easely go as a continental one. Dont expect help or understanding from... More

Thank you very much for staying at Nara Hotel. And thank you for providing your comments and we are sorry that you were not happy with our rooms, breakfast, and service. Regarding the room, if the guest is added, we charge it even if the reservation is a twin / double room. Because in the case of using a twin... More
