We stayed here for two nights. The location is fantastic - just on Lake Chuzenji and close to most of the main hiking trails in the area. The access to the hiking trails in particular is excellent. If you want to focus on the Nikko shrines, this may not be for you as it's a forty minute bus journey back... More

Its nice to come to nikko on a sunny day and the hotel is good even just for a half day stay. If you make a reservation for lunch they will also allow you to use their onsen which is also very nice. Afterwards you can enjoy the lakeside view, which you can also enjoy while in the onsen.

The natural onsen is great though it is a minute or less away from the hotel main building. Beautiful landscape with lake and mountain view. Minutes away to the great Kegon falls by walking. Bus stops in front of the hotel from Nikko/Tobu Nikko stations. The hotel is clean and the staffs are nice. Good food. We only have breakfast.

I recommend Nikko Lakeside Hotel particularly to those who seek a half day of fun in the area of Lake Chuzenji. We arrived at Lake Chuzenji by bus around noon. It was early spring and was fairly cold. We proceeded to the hotel and signed up at the front desk for lunch and reserved private onsen. I suggest that you... More

We believe we were the only guests when we stayed there in late January. Staff spoke limited English but was helpful and very polite. If you want to see Nikko properly and can afford more than just a day trip, I highly recommend this hotel to you. You can get there by public transport - The bus trip from the... More

Nestled between Lake Chuzenji, Mt. Nantai and Kegon Falls in the Nikko National Park, make this the ideal location in this area. From Nikko JR station, a fifty minute bus ride which I enjoyed very much. Dated hotel with smallish dated rooms and miniature dated bathrooms. BUT, very friendly and helpful personnel. Breakfast and dinner could not be faulted. Great... More

We were surprised to find so much snow still on the ground in early April. However we were blessed with brilliant sunshine and were able to enjoy the beautiful walks around this most interesting Lake. The hotel is very well situated, close to the bus station and with a bus stop right outside. The food (French) was excellent with a... More

On our tour of Japan we spend one day at Nikko. Great place and many things to do. After visiting the many temples, we took the way of the mountains to Lake Chuzenji, where the Hotel is located. We went to see the Kegon Falls, there is an elevator that takes you to the very bottom of the fall. It... More

Located just by the waters, Nikko Lakeside Hotel is located at the junction of the bus terminal, Lake Chuzenji, and the road from Nikko town. With a busstop just in front of the hotel, we conveniently arrived at the hotel from Nikko town with our heavy luggage. Just a few steps from the gate at the other side of the... More

This review is catered towards the Western traveler... First, when traveling in Japan, westerners must be prepared for the unexpected in terms of hotel stays. In my experience, unless spending an outlandish amount of money, Japanese hotels can be a bit disappointing. Whether or not the area you are visiting is "in season" also has a great deal of influence... More
